Big Al’s Blog: New Shoes, “The Bachelorette” and Work Problems

(Random)…Last night, I had the urge to buy a new pair of shoes. Have you ever had some type of feeling that came over you that made you drive to the mall? This rarely happens to me but it did last night and there I was. Walking around the mall for an hour. It was very strange.

Then I came home to watch a little bit of “The Bachelorette.” I have almost fallen off of the bandwagon on this show but I’m trying to hang in there. But this season, the show just seems lamer than the other lame seasons and I can’t put a finger on the reason. This is also very strange.

employee-theft-big-al-picI had to “let go” a couple of employees. Stealing doesn’t just make me mad but it really disappoints me. To think that I trusted a person enough to pay them and they turn around and take what is not theirs is very troubling. Not only that, it really makes me question my ability to hire quality people. And of course it makes me not believe in people as much as I did the day before. But I guess we can’t be afraid of trusting others just because of the actions of a few, right?

Last, I’m still hoping that some miracle will fall into place and I am able to find another location for my bar in Mexico. If you haven’t heard, my landlord in Playa del Carmen has decided to NOT renew my lease on my bar. So, I have to move in 2 weeks. I found a few options but none have really excited me. I really want to keep the bar going for the sake of the employees. I hope they don’t feel like I have given up on them but I’m sure they do. Stay tuned as the drama unfolds.
