Do Guys really want life updates from ex-girlfriends? Probably not. So, Why do girls feel the need to give them to us? “Why?” Yesterday, I got a text from an ex from about 2-3 years ago. It was a surprise to look at my cell phone and her name there. It had been quite a while. It has been more than 2 years since we dated. She will send a text every Blue Moon or maybe I would send her one every few months, as well. But it would never be more than something like, “Saw your team play today, looking good” or something simple like that. In fact, she sent me a “Hello” about 2 months ago when she was in town for a concert. No biggie, right???

Anyway, she sent me a text last night. The first text from her was a simple one: “Hey, how are you?”

That was simple enough. The next one was, “Al, I think of you from time to time. I know a lot has happened in your life.

I replied with, “ Yeah, lots going on. busy, busy, busy!”

Then, her next text was probably the reason that she started the text conversation in the first place. It said: “Life is good, God is Good. Al, I’m…engaged!”

Ok, my first question is, Why are you telling me this? I mean, an ex-boyfriend can be happy for an exgirlfriend…but the question remains, Why? Out of all of the guys I know, I can’t think of one that thought of calling an ex-girlfriend to announce to tell her that he was engaged. That’s not to say that she is wrong. It just makes me wonder, WHY? Maybe when I get engaged, I should call all of my ex-girlfriends to let them know. Maybe, it was her way of saying that I shouldn’t text her anymore to tell her Merry Christmas or Happy MLK Day…I hope if she is reading this, she doesn’t get her feelings hurt. I’m not being mean or rude. I just don’t really understand.
