Couple laid off and barely making ends meet

Dear Christmas Wish,
Hi, my name is Karen and I would like nominate my best friend of 17 years. She lost her job earlier this year and just a few months later her husband, who has worked at the same company for the last 12 years also lost his job. They went from struggling but making it, to no income at all. She had to break down and apply for food stamps to feed her family, which she thought she would never have to do in her life, and cried all the way home. Her husband who still can’t find a job is now driving a school bus after school and she took the first job she found at a local business. Their income is barely enough to cover bills and food, but not much left over for Christmas for their two children. She told me the other day she isn’t even putting her Christmas tree up because there wouldn’t be any presents. I love my friend and her family dearly and I hate to see them struggle so much. I really feel like they need to catch a break soon.
