My wife had gotten a 20dollar tip from a guy who just gets a cup of coffee every morning, and it was during the holidays, and all she was doing was picking up one of her paychecks and wasn't working that day that this guy gave it to her after he bumped into her, and he told her to get whatever she wanted with it, that was something interesting, especially when all he ever gets is coffee! lol!

Several years ago, my daughter became very ill and for months we had no inkling of what was wrong with her. She had a constant migraine for 4 months and counting (no relief from meds, sleep, anything!) She stayed dizzy but would get worse and fall down the stairs. I think she missed school 45 days that year. She was 10 years old and no one could tell us what was wrong. One particularly bad day we were back at the pediatrician's office --praying for an end to this nightmare -- and he ordered an emergency set of lab work and then an MRI an hour later. She was being tested for a brain tumor and leukemia. Finally, some answers? We did the lab, then were flying over to the hospital through the narrow downtown streets and blew a tire. Maybe I should say the tire exploded. We were in a bad neighborhood with 15 minutes till her appointment and no way for me to carry the child 2 miles down the road. AAA was going to take at least an hour and a half. I got out to change the tire myself, to no avail. The spare was stuck. Then a man in an older GMC Jimmy stopped -- very carefully got out and asked if he could help me change the tire. He could not get the spare down either - it was hopelessly stuck. (At that point, my husband was inaccessible and neither were anyone that I would usually call for help -- I was in a total panic with a very sick child.) I looked at my daughter and did something I never thought I would do -- I said a quick prayer and asked this strange man to take the two of us to the hospital. He looked a little shocked, asked me if I was sure and then looked at my daughter. He agreed. He took us the two miles up the road and dropped us off --- I had written down his name so I could thank him, but in the fray that day the piece of paper was lost. (My daughter later said that she knew it was all good because he had a well-worn bible in the seat... that he must be ok.) Then the staff at the MRI center at the hospital heard about our adventure - I was just going to wait for a cab to take us back to the car when it was over (once I had time to think straight...) One of the technicians at the center insisted on taking us back to the car. She said the child had been through enough (most people get medicated before an MRI - she didn't have time.) I cannot thank the people enough who helped us that day.
A random thoughtful act that was done for me was when I was returning home from IRAQ for R&R, was at the airport about 30 miles from home and was unable to rent a car. Sso the guy that I sat next to on the plane heard what was going on and offered to go out of his way and drive me home, I never did get the guys name but he did say GOD BLESS after we parted ways, made me feel good to know ppl still are kind.
I was at a particularly low point in my life and was on the city bus trying to get to the grocery store. If you have ever rode the city bus you know it can take you 2 hours to get any short distance. Anyway, my daughter was asking if she could get cookies and I told her "no, we don't have money for extras right now." As we were getting off the bus, an elderly gentleman gave me a 20 dollar bill and said "get that baby some cookies". I was so touched, I cried.
Two years ago after a long crazy battle with my ex-husband with our divorce. I was on my own with no money since I saved it all to divorce him and spent it on an attorney, I had all four of my children from our marriage and no home and no where to go. My ex doesn't pay the child support ordered. I called all of the churches and homeless shelters. The churches could not help us and the homeless shelters were full. I was at my wits end. I had a friend whom told my story to his neighbor is a mobile home park. The neighbor had bought a home and was moving out of the mobile home. When he heard about me and the kids story from my friend, he told us that we could live in the mobile home until I can get on my feet. He has never asked me for rent. I just have to pay lot rent every month. Times have been really hard. I am still not on my feet like I need to be. It has been two years. I have only spoken to this nice man on the phone. I have never met him in person. If it wasn't for him I don't know what could have happened for me and my young children. He has been a blessing.
On Sunday the 1st, at Church, when it came time to pass the plate, Toby (Paster at Cross Timbers Chruch) said he would rather you take money from the plate in these hard time, then feel guilty about not being able to give. At yesterday's service (at all 4 campus) they asked everyone who who has lost their jobs to please stand and come up front, then proceeded to tell them that on Sunday March the 1st they had received the most offering every and was going to share it with everyone that was standing up front. There were more then 50 who went up front.

I was at the airport, and I was only 12. And I was so lost and scared trying to find the baggage claim. When an older college looking girl, who had her self strapped down with luggages and etc. dropped everything and left it at her gate, and walked me all the way to the elevator/entrance to the baggage claim. :)
when I was working as a waitress at a local restaurat and I was living on my own at 17, one of our regulars that I always waited on left me a $100 tip when they heard I was behind and unable to come up with my rent. -Chrissie
We recently lost our home to foreclosure...yeah I know I should be posting on it sux to be me, but it doesn't. I have am blessed! My husband and kids are awesome and my friends are true friends!
One couple has bascially given us a farm house that sits on the most beautiful acreage. My husband is going to watch after their cattle in lieu of rent. It needed a ton of remodelling so we had another couple helping us and he happened to mention it at work. A co-workers dad has a construction companyand he had them come over one Sat. and to look at the house. They told us to stop working (it was obvious we didn't know what we were doing) on it because they were going to remodel it for us. They put up sheet rock, new cabinets, flooring, painted, new sinks, new dishwasher, range, etc....We had to pay for nothing. They have been doing an amazing job and we will forever be grateful!

I am from a small town in South East Texas! I am used to thick accents and nice country people! It is quaint here! I decided recently I was going to go to Houston to the zoo there! Zoos are limited here so it was worth the 3 hour trip! Well, I have been to Houston on several occasions and every time, the FLIPPIN traffic amazes me! I must have TOURIST tattoed on my forehead, because the drivers in this town are BRUTAL!!!!!! Not to mention, it must be illegal to be friendly in that city! Needles to say, It is a huge hassle to get anywhere down there! (I can only imagine how small townish I sound right now!) Well we reach the zoo FINALLY, exhausted and FURIOUS!!! We wander around the parking lot for about an hour before finding a spot, and on our walk to the gate we realize, the fun has been sucked from our trip, we are PISSED! :) After a small disagreement and a 6 mile hike across the parking lot we realize we have no effin clue where we are going. My first reaction is to ask, "Maam, Where do we go?" A super sweet lady with her children tells us we can go in up ahead at gate 6 if we have our tickets already. Guess what? We did not have tickets! She said to us, obviosly able to see the exasperation on out faces, "Come one, I have a membership, you guys are my children today!" Now, that seems amazing, but I am a scrawny little white girl with my scrawny white boyfriend, and we are being bustled along by a big woman, who for obvious racial reasons couldn't possibly be our mom and those were not our siblings either!! Ugh! How was that going to work! She herded us ahead of her and through the gates, problem free! When we entered the zoo and offered her money for our tickets, she hugged us like we were really her children, handed us a map and said, "You Two Have fun now!" Man, and I though nice people were extinct in that city!
It's great to hear all these individual stories of good happenings. Bless everyone that has been helped and have been helping others.
I came on the board to just try to get people to all do some good for strangers who are gravely ill.
I work at Elements Salon and Wellness Spa and we as a business want to give back. We were inspired by a customer of ours, Tracy Schulenberg who donated a kidney to a woman in New York she found through matchingdonors.com So in honor of her we want to do a fundraiser to raise money for matchingdonors.com which match living donors to recipients and to Miracle Flights who give plane rides to those with severe or rare conditions to get to specialists.
Please help us do some good by coming down to our Salon and Spa on Friday July 10th for our FREE HAIRCUT FUNDRAISER.
It is first come first serve dry haircuts from 12pm-8pm, open donation and 100% of proceeds go to those 2 organizations. Donations are accepted through our website too at www.elements-salonandspa.net.
Our goal is to reach $5000 and we need all the help we can get. Please tell your coworkers, friends and family. Let's make you look good for a great cause!
