Amazingly I had the same reaction as Kellie when I first got a bra. Women out there just assume they are a size. We all rely on the straps to hold us up, but if you are properly fitted for a bra you know that it is the band that should be supporting you.
I had always purchased bras at Wal-Mart or Target or Ross or some place like that, because like Kellie I am cheap and I hate to spend extra money especially on something most people won't see. For my birthday a few years back my mom took me to buy a couple of bras and actually get fitted. I thought that I was about a 36DD/D to a 38DD. Come to find out I was between a 34F and a 34FF! I was amazed.
My breasts aren't huge, but they are probably on the big side, but to me they look proportionate to my body. Once you find the proper band size the cup naturally has to be bigger than it would be in a larger one to accommodate all of your breasts.
I would highly recommend women going out and getting properly fitted for a bra. I especially recommend this for women with larger breasts because it will change everything. It will change the way you walk, the way you close fit, etc. Once your breasts are properly supported it takes away back pain and so much more. If you have never been properly fitted DO SO! You may end up spending more money than you have on a bra before, but take this from someone who hates to spend $20 on any one item... it is DEFINITELY worth it!
