It's been a long road to get to this point. Good luck to anyone out there who is or knows someone in Marching Band. Including my son.
Had to laugh: Summer Olympics, China. The announcers ooh'd and aw'd at the synchronized dancers and their precision. Marching bands march with that precision across the country daily AND play instruments at the same time.
Shoutout band kids, families, and former band kids. It's a lot of work and time and especially to get to that level. Good luck to your son and his bandmates! =)
Any band people out there who know anything about the drum line battle of the bands contests? I love to watch the drum lines and one year got to see a big high school marching band competition here, but have never been able to find out about one since.
Actually, PASIC is going on at the same time, same place (Indy). That's what allowed our band to go to Grand Nats this year. We have a great drumline which always goes to PASIC. Can't march w/o drumline.
There's a band of the bands here every June and some of the local high school bands will feature their drumlines. Shawn's school has a drum line separate from their band, and they're really good. The 6th grade science teacher is their sponsor. =)
