Kiddnation

It was like Christmas had come early and I had the pleasure of being Santa Clause. I got the chance to go tell two different families that they had been selected to join us at Disneyworld for our 2009 trip. It was soooo great. The first family had no idea. Shanon had just told them that we may come by for a visit.
I walked up to the door of the clean 3 bedroom house and knocked. The mom dayna, answered the door. I sat down on the couch and she began to tell me about her 10 year old daughter Olivia. She has some type of very rare illness that I couldn’t spell if I had to and I surely cant pronounce. Olivia uses a walker and was receiving physical therapy at the time we arrived. We pulled her out of her room to talk and about that time, the other daughter, megan, walked in. she’s 13. They all joined us on the couch and I asked Olivia to join me in singing “it’s a small world after all.” she did, and beautifully, I may add. That when I told her.. we’re going to Disneyworld. She was shell shocked and didn’t really know what to say. Mom and megan were both in tears. They don’t get a lot of vacations and in fact, Olivia has never been on a plane. It was a beautiful thing.
Then we, shanon, Austin and I, went about 25 more miles south to an ice cream/restaurant. Braums. In a small town called Gainsville, texas. In this case, the friends knew what was up but the family really didn’t. I made an announcement as soon as I walked in. I yelled to the entire restaurant, “im big al from kidd kraddick in the morning and im looking for Faith.” Faith stood up and I ran over and gave her several mickey mouse balloons that shanon had bought for her. it was her birthday. I dropped down on one knee and I asked little 8 year old faith , in front of her sisters pe and grace and her brother cale, and of course mom, mandi and dad, Robert, if she would join us at Disneyworld! SHE SAID YES!!! Haha.. I yelled it to the entire restaurant…SHE SAID YES! It was a beautiful thing. The parents were there, her teacher was there, grandparents, friends, it was awesome. I don’t think I mentioned it but not only does faith have cystic fibrosis, 2 of the other kids are dealing with it as well. Think about that. You have 4 kids and 3 of them have cystic fibrosis. Man, for those of us who have healthy kids, if that doesn’t want to make you thank God for your blessings, I don’t know what will.

That was a great read Al, thanks. I can't even describe how it made me feel just reading it so I know it must have been very touching to be a direct part of it.
