Help me understand why the rules changed. Is there one form of the Catholic church that is more traditional than another? I never heard of the Sunday is a freebee from lent addition

I'm giving up beer, sweets, and going to The Way of the Cross on Fridays. I am also going to stop playing solitaire on my computer.

I am not Catholic but my parents sent me to a Catholic school. Lunches on friday sucked during lent.

I'm not catholic, but decided to participate anyway. xD I'm going to give up drinking alcohol, except for wine! Well, I mainly drink a lot of mixed drinks and beer anyway, and it's contributing to me gaining a lot of weight. ;p It'll be hard, because I love to come home and have some drinks or go out on weekends and have a big fish bowl margarita... Ah, I miss it already and it's the first day. I hope I can do it. hehe
