If you haven’t watched last night's episode of True Blood, “Never Let Me Go”, then beware!
Spoilers ahead!

Last night's theme was learning more about how telepaths, vampires and shifters tick. Our first big reveal is that Daphne is a shifter. A deer, to be specific. She and Sam engaged in an odd sort of foreplay by comparing notes on how it feels to shift. Does it seem like Daphne knows an awful lot more about the shifter rules than Sam? Is she a danger to him or a sincere love interest?

This episode also brought us another major diversion from the books as Eric revealed the Godric was his maker, not Appius as is the case in the books (revealed in book 9, Dead to the World). What are the implications of this for Eric? He looked pretty vulnerable when he told Bill about his relationship to Godric. Do you think this is a good change, like keeping Lafayette around beyond season 1? Meanwhile, how terrific was the acting during that flashback? Even on the verge of death, Eric is an arrogant Viking stud. “Where ever I am…there will be women.”

In the process of learning more about Godric, we also met his lieutenants, Stan and Isabel. And Sookie hatched a plan to infilitrate the Fellowship of the Sun to find out what they’re up to in this war. “Easy peasy”? Doubtful.

We also learned more about Sookie’s abilities as she tried to get to know Barry better. She admitted that she’s starting to see her gift as an ability she can use to earn money and, in true helpful Sookie style, tried to teach Barry how to handle his gift. Until he ran out on her. Will he be back?

The Hoyt/Jessica relationship moved forward with a late night, long distance comic book reading. Too cute. But will Mama Fortenberry come between them? Bill’s attempts to control Jessica continue to amuse.

Over at LODI, Jason stepped up and proved himself as a true leader. Sarah, meanwhile, stepped up and proved herself as a seductress. Ooh la la. Meanwhile, Maryann has decided to squat at the Stackhouse manse with Tara, going so far as to dress as Gran to manipulate Tara. It also appears that she can make people feel like crap when she’s unhappy, the same way she can make them feel euphoric. Her hold over Tara hasn’t loosened as much as we’d hoped.

And finally, Lorena returns. For Bill. Uh oh.

What did you think about this episode?

We've seen Lorena turn Bill with deceitful selfishness, and we've seen Bill turn Jessica with a tidal wive of guilt.

When Godric makes Eric, however, he does it with admiration. He's so impressed by Eric's warrior soul that he decides he can be a "companion of death".

He bestows vampirism like a gift on a great man who is about to die.

I can't wait to see what Godric looks like now- is he still super young?

I was suprised that Godric is a teenager. He should look the same though.

If you listen to True-Blood.net Radio, you'll know that they like to play “cast that role” whenever new casting sides are released. A role they have been trying to cast for weeks is that of Godric, the ancient vampire who looks 15.

There was recent confirmation that Godric would be played by Danish actor Allan Hyde. He certainly looks the part! Allan is a graduate of film school and an award-winning short story writer.

He is young in the books too. On screen, he's not what I pictured but awesome nonetheless!

I can't wait to see where this storyline takes us!

I loved the "wherever I am, there will be woman" hahaha Eric knows he's got it!!!! in any age lol I like how we are learning more about Maryann, but I do really wonder "why Tara?" is it because Tara is so needful of it? And Lorena for Bill - uh-oh Sookie look out - someone's after your MAN!!!!

Yep...she's an evil being and feeds off drunken parties, chaos, poor choices, etc...and she's preying on Tara's need for emotional acceptance. I wish Eric would kill her off already!

I can only imagine that Lorena will have Bill pinned down (literally) when Sookie's in danger so Eric will fly to her rescue. Dang! I can't wait till Sunday night!

The whold Daphne/Sam mix is killing me! Did Maryann put a spell on her and "turn" her into a shifter? Because what's with the scar down Daphne's back??? Because Maryann IS that horned devil looking thing, right??? And I love how smart Sookie is. She can read people so well!! I hope she's able to infiltrate the "church" without Jason giving away her secret!!
