About Me:
THE GOOD: I need to be me: no reins. I laugh really loud, I sing constantly (and usually into hairbrushes or mop handles), I have a goofy childlike wonder at the simplest stuff, I dance when I drive, I smile at strangers, and I throw myself into my passions full out. I will accept you exactly as you are and I demand the same courtesy. I want to be a vet more than most people want to breathe, so I’m focused on school. I inhale rather than read books. Music is one of the biggest parts of my life. Animals are necessary for my sanity.

THE BAD: I have trouble expressing myself or dealing with confrontation. I can’t fight, argue, etc. I take what you say personally. I scream out my frustration and cry out my broken pieces in private. I can’t stand to have strangers (or a lot of my friends) touch me. I am scared of relationships and quite graceless about it. I have slight OCD about sticky stuff. It makes me twitch. As do lima beans. I’m out of touch with my girlie side. I am in a male dominated field, so I can (and do) go toe-to-toe with the boys when there’s a need. I love action movies and hate chick flicks, romantic gestures make me snort, and various other unfeminine things. I’m a pain in the ass, a huge challenge, and sometimes I’m a complete mess. But, as Marilyn said, if you can’t handle me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best.
What station do you listen to that plays the show?

The second chapter of a day in my life: Chicken Thomas Gets Hitched. (If you haven't read the first blog about Chicken Thomas this will make less sense...just a heads up)

I got a phone call a couple weeks ago. A very southern lady started grilling me about a "Charlie Thomas that used to work there and is marrying my Great Aunt Kate and we don't know a thing about him!!" Sister Lady is obviously distressed about the pending matrimony and for a few seconds I'm completely perplexed about… Continue

I was in a mood...

This won’t be eloquent, nor will it be well worded, succinct, or flow well. It won’t be politically correct. It won’t hold back or spare feelings. So this is just me, musing, while listening to the soundtrack of Rent (which, if you haven’t heard it or seen it, do yourself a favor and do). This is not just a simple musical, it’s magic. Just in case you didn’t know. But, that’s not the point of this.

My point is about the whole proposition 8, gay rallies, hate crimes, brutal statistics, religion… Continue

Personal Space...

I work with a bunch of smart people. Not insinuating that I am...I'm kind of the lone wolf for the normal intelligence level peeps...but the rest of these people are super duper intelligent. Pathologists and internal specialists and stuff. Lots o'letters after thier names. SO. How is that none of them understand the concept of personal space? I don't mind you asking me questions, but MUST you stick your face into my face so closely that if you breathe in too hard we'll be smooching? Is this real… Continue

Confused about life in general....as usual.

Okay. Writing usually helps me sort my thoughts out, and right now they are all over the place. Here goes. I've wanted to be a vet as long as I can remember. I volunteered on top of a full time job and going to school full time from juco thru grad school. I have forced myself to watch and deal with things I would rather not have memories of because I just KNEW that's what I would do, that I'd have to deal with it later, so I better get hardened up to it. I got TWO frippin degrees in an area I wa… Continue

My Turn Day

I'm going to foster dogs for a program here at the Vet school at Mississippi State University. Most dogs are in shelters because of behavior problems, and 25% of dogs in shelters are purebred. These are not bad dogs, unhealthy dogs, or useless dogs. Many simply don't know how to behave. With patience, I'm hoping to turn around some of their stories and help them find forever homes rather than being put down. Anyone wanting information about our Homeward Bound program should contact MSU CVM, and… Continue
