A few weeks ago, a lot of you may remember that there was a death that hit really close to home. A death that rocked a lot of us and left us unable to really understand why it happened.

Through this tragedy, it's allowed me to watch one of my close friends go through the ups and downs of having to deal with it personally. It was his family that suffered the most, it was his family that felt a loss that no family should have to deal with.

Living in San Diego, you can't help but get caught up in the military life that surrounds the city.

Head north up the 5 freeway, just into Oceanside, and you'll run into Marine Base Camp Pendelton. Head south on the 15 freeway and you'll find Miramar Naval Air Station or more famously known as the the place where a lot of the movie Top Gun was filmed. This morning, my fiance and I drove out to Waxahachie, TX to have our engagement pictures taken. The area we ended up in was their old town area.

The court house, old train station and old time "fountain" shops or better known today as ice cream shops still stood in the same spots they had always been for so many years.

I quickly was transformed into what was once a bussling little town, back to the 1950's, and I started to wonder where this country has come from and how far its come.
