- About Me:
- I find it difficult to write "about me" on these types of profiles. Regrettably, it seems I lack the natural ability to "sell" myself, which can result in various shortcomings. However, I do my best to persevere and will write something here despite the difficulty!
I am an average guy currently living a simple and single life in Austin, TX. I have a waning aspiration to design video games, and graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006 with a BFA in Interactive Design and Game Development.
Shortly after college, I was fortunate enough to find employment with Blizzard Entertainment, one of the largest and most successful video game developers in the world. The experience and benefits couldn't be better, though I consider my position with them merely a stepping stone - temporary at best. Unfortunately, my responsibilities do not include any creative developement, so I derive little satisfaction from my work. As a result, I struggle to find the motivation to pursue something new. Change can be difficult.
I live in a house with three of my best friends, two of which I met in college. We are all employed at Blizzard with similar positions. Regrettably, our social circle remains limited to the people we meet at work, primarily due to the fact that none of us are Austin natives and several of us contend with post-college financial hardships, preventing us from living more lavish social lives. I try to stay active in siezing the opportunity to meet new people, though the circumstance seems elusive. Also, it doesn't help that I am up and at work a hour before the Kidd Kraddick show starts and in bed long before Big Al decides its time to go out for the night. ;-)
A few of the more prominent things I enjoy are reading (currently "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski), improv. comedy, TV series (Heroes, Lost, Fringe, House, Boston Legal), contemplating life's mysteries, games (card games, video games, board games, etc), going out to eat, conspiracy theorizing (for fun - not fanatically), socializing, the Cowboys (when they don't suck), beer, and pretending that exercise is a priority of mine (seriously... I need to work out more).
In short, I try my best to keep things interesting and myself professionally casual in what appears to be a habitually and increasingly mundane world!
