My first Kidd's Kids trip was such a better experience than I anticipated. I figured that I would be very emotional for the duration of the trip but that wasn't the case at all. I cry at infomercials about dogs so of course I figured I would be inconsolable when I surrounded by these kids. In reality, coming home was the hardest part of the trip. As I put up all of my trip pictures on Facebook, I just started crying thinking about how I might never see any of these kids and their families again.…

Living in San Diego, you can't help but get caught up in the military life that surrounds the city.
Head north up the 5 freeway, just into Oceanside, and you'll run into Marine Base Camp Pendelton. Head south on the 15 freeway and you'll find Miramar Naval Air Station or more famously known as the the place where a lot of the movie Top Gun was filmed. Head even further south on the 5 freeway and you'll find North Island Naval Air Station.
So living in what is known as a "military town," you're…

How sad was it to hear Big Al fall apart over his dog today. It was even sadder to watch. How awful is it to have to make the decision to put your dog to sleep. Stretch was a good and loyal friend to Big Al for 13 years -- ever since he rescued her from the pound. I'd like to think there's a doggie heaven so Al can see her again. And there are a few wonderful dogs and a cat or two I'd like to see again, too.
My kid is so bad, I think Nanny Laura is giving up, too. How do you discipline a child…

I haven't written on Kiddnation in a long time since I've started missvoran.wordpress.com
(shameless plug, I know). But I read Al's post and it broke my heart. Ever since Toby left for Korea our puppy Cosette has been living with me. She's not quite a year and is
definitely a handful. More energy in one living being I have never seen. And between working full time and school full time really the last thing I want to do when I ge…

I just got back from the kids kids trip. And now its back from the land of everything that’s perfect and magical to everything that is real. It was 4 or 5 days of smiles and happiness and little javarise was just one of the kids that headed from the airport to the hospital. In his case, he had to go to take yet another treatment for his leukemia. Im praying for you buddy.
Being surrounded by the kids on Monday that were dealing with their different conditions made me remain silent on what I had…

Hey Big Al,
Just wanted you to know that I had to go through the same thing this past summer. We had our family dog for about 17 years. She got to where she couldn't see very well, she had arthritis in her hind legs, she was acting like she was getting dementia. It was really hard watching her. I would walk her twice a day. The last few days of her life she could hardly make it more than past the front of my house. I kept telling my husband that I didn't want to have to put her down - I didn't f…

My little 2 year old who is going to be 3 next month just melts my heart. I took her on some errands with me yesterday. I dropped my older two off at school and went to the grocery store and some other things. She is so delightful to have. Some of the things that come out of her mouth can just make me giggle. every shade of red is Red and Green is Grweem it is too cute. She loves to repeat her self until you say Yes Izzy that is Izzy's shirt. Last night when I came home she was already in bed, s…

I was so sick of myself when I got off that plane that instead of going straight home, I went straight to Whole Foods to pick up some fruit and some of that Ezekiel bread that crunchy granola people eat. I missed Emma Kelly, but I simply had to make that stop first. So when I got home, EK was in the bathtub and she was so excited to see me that she scrambled out and just clung to me -- all 40 pounds of wet, naked, not-so-baby-anymore baby. First words out of her mouth? "Mommy! What'd you bring m…

Where is the love?
Seems like all we ever see is hate
Turn on the news
A little girl just got gang raped
12 dead, including the gunner
Money troubles led to one mans insanity
What's the world coming to, it makes you wonder
Watching hours of news, makes you lose all hope
You lose faith in humanity, how will we ever cope?
But you turn off the tv and you go outside
Fear for you lives cause it's not safe, stay inside
Don't trust anyone, it's an evil world
Keep to yourself, they keep telling us and t…

An office manager embezzled $435,837 from Big Brothers Big Sisters of... during the past year, the organization alleged in a lawsuit filed Monday.
...hired in May 2008, forged two board members' signatures on at least 140 checks.
The amount taken represents about a third of the organization's annual budget of $1.3 million, and it has placed the agency in a bad situation...
"We've got to get some money in here or we're going to have to turn out the lights," he said.
I know times are tough for…

This morning, my fiance and I drove out to Waxahachie, TX to have our engagement pictures taken. The area we ended up in was their old town area.
The court house, old train station and old time "fountain" shops or better known today as ice cream shops still stood in the same spots they had always been for so many years.
I quickly was transformed into what was once a bussling little town, back to the 1950's, and I started to wonder where this country has come from and how far its come.
Our fir…

Saturday November 7th 2009.
A group of friends and I went down to Wesley's Place. A local organization for a young child that was murdered in our hometown. I personally love this organization and I have raised 1000.00 dollars for them in the past. We did hard, manual work today, that practically killed us all over. We hung insalation and cleaned up tools and trash. It is great to know that such little work can make a huge difference. Please message me if you are in any shape or form are interes…

Often times, when making our commutes into work, we turn to our favorite radio stations. We listen our favorite radio personalities or our favorite songs and it makes us forget about whatever is going on in our real lives.
We forget, for that certain amount of time, the things we're going through, no matter what those things happen to be.
For those of us who listen to The Kidd Kraddick in the Morning Show, we get to listen and laugh along with all of the personalities on that show. It gives us…

"Yeah it's freddy are you surprised? Maybe this will teach you, and your little boss that you can't just mess with people like you did me. Maybe I'm not the best singer, but you all filled me with ideas that I would be the next big thing, and guess what? A boy in a balloon who wasn't even in the balloon got more press than me." Freddy said while grinning back at J-si who was in the back seat with…

We’ve got a great group of kids along with their families here at Disneyworld. We have met almost all of them and I have begun my job of trying to remember all of their names.
It amazes me how smart some of these parents are and how versed they are on their childrens conditions. Talking to some of them they seem almost like doctors. And I met one little boy from Arkansas who is 6 years old named tyler. As we were eating dinner last night, he looked at me with a huge smle on his face and said, “I…

My daughter Kamdyn is almost 3 and she might just be the funniest kid I have ever met. She trips me out every day. My SIL keeps her for me during the day while I am at work and Monday when she brought her to me she told me the funniest thing. She said that she thinks Kamdyn thinks she is 15. I asked her why and she said that Kamdyn told her "the other day I told my mom your not the boss of me, and my mom was like yes I am the boss of you and I was like WHAT!!" How can an almost 3 year old be a v…
