Light the Night East Texas, Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Bergfeld Park in Tyler, TX

Dear Kiddnation Family:
I'm raising money for a very important cause: finding better treatments and cures for blood cancers so patients can live better, longer lives through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Nig…

What's wrong with having only one child? When we told my in laws that we were perfectly happy with our beautiful smart, ONLY daughter, you would have thought I told them we were moving to a foreign country and no airline could reach us. I truly understand that children are a blessing. Hey! I wanted one for the last 10 years. I said time and again---I just want to be a parent. When the good Lord decided to bless me with the most amazing husband ever I thought there was no way it could get better.…

Is there ever a time when you need to "drop" your friends? Sometimes it happens because of...
Differences of opinion. Why does it bother me so? Have you ever had a friend that you made due to common interests, and then when you weren't interested in the hobby anymore, the friendship died as well? As I'm getting older I'm realizing this is becoming true and sometmes it really hurts.
I spent three years during a really bad time in my life hanging out on a "celebrity" message board. To keep from…

My daughter had a wonderful Elmo party yesterday! We went all out on the decorations! We had to hide one of the Life Size balloons in the bathroom because all the kids kept fighting over it. Which would be great except I had to go potty in the middle of the night, forgot the darn thing was in there and nearly "went" all over myself. So, can Elmo be scary? I posted this picture so you could guess for yourself.
Imagine this large thing blowing around! Next time, I will do like Motel 6 and "Leave…

Rachel W (1985-2005) RIP 4-22-05 My First Entry Reprinted from Rachel's Memorial Site from 4-24-05
I Know You Have Found Your Rainbow / Kim (Chatroom Prayer and Friend)
Oh my dear Rachel, I have been so quiet for two days since you went to Heaven. I have kept myself so busy so I wouldn't think about you not being online and typing "Hey" in your green font, and me typing back "Hey girlie" in my purple font. But I've been so sad. My heart is broken.
I released your balloon today after yo…

The most interesting thing happened to me today. I had to contact a vendor to get an account balance, so I used the company's "contact me" page on their website--mostly because I prefer to do my corresponding by email and texting. I'm truly a computer geek. And all good computer geeks know what Rick Rolling is. Now...ahem...in case you don't...a quick explanation. When you send someone a link to something you think they will be interested in watching, and embed the truly 80's Rick Astley video "…

I cannot believe I am telling you that I have now passed all four parts of the CPA Exam. After the longest weekend of my life, I got my Audit score back and it was a 93! I will never know how I did this because I expected this to be my weakest area because I don't have any public audit experience. All I can say is Becker Review really works!! I just got my congratulatory email from the Texas Board, so now I guess it needs to sink in.
The past year for me truly has been a blur. I have spent ever…

One of my favorite movies is "Love Actually". What I love about this movie is it teaches us that there are ALL kinds of love. The traditional butterflies in the stomach, weak at the knees love. There is the unconditional love you have for your children. The love you have for your parents and your siblings. There is the unrequited painful love. The committed love of a married couple who are comfortable, yet happy. And then there is the love between friends. I could not think of a more appropriate…

Jeff is someone I have gotten to know on a message board that I post on a lot called cpa-net.com. His story always keeps me motivated and able to deal with whatever news I get on the CPA Exam. I posted some weird things on the message board, like "I don't know if my job situation will change AT ALL.I am ashamed because I keep running into former classmates that have passed this test (and I used to help with homework), and I feel like I let myself down several years ago. I'm just doing this to…

My daughter loves music! It must be all the American Idol I watched when I was pregnant. Or, it could be all the stuff I played in the car on my twice weekly drive to Tyler during my last trimester. Whatever it is, she loves it! She dances and sometimes "sings" but it has to be an upbeat song. I can remember the trip to the ER when she split her head open on the dresser and we tied on a fake bandage until we could get there. She gets in mommy's car, hears Justin Timberlake and decided that she n…

No, this is really not a blog post about Big Al's dating life. *haha* Sorry Al, I couldn't help it!
Something very interesting happened yesterday. I'm a first time parent, and the workings of the minds of children fascinate me. I have a precious daughter who does not know a stranger. I don't know what it's like to have my child hold on to my leg and cry because she doesn't want to go to school. She puts her coat on and looks forward to it. Now I know why!!
I came to her school yesterday to pic…
