Im guilty of racial profiling! Im sorry but I am. Let me say this. I want comments here from any and everybody but I especially want comments from other black people. dont hate on me. this is what honestly happened and these are my honest feelings and thoughts!

Ok, heres what happened. Im rolling to the crib and about 4 blocks from my house which I have to say is a 99% white neighborhood…(ok, you can hate on me for that later)…anyway, I see this brother, (black dude), rolling down the street on a brand new bike. I don't know for a fact that it was brand new but it looked extremely clean. The frame as well as the tires. And no one that rides a bike has really clean tires. Ok, but here's the deal. The first time I passed him, he was pushing the bike. Kinda odd but maybe it had a flat tire. But what struck me as really odd was the fact that the guy that was pushing this brand new shiney bike, was dressed like he had been wearing the same clothes for AT LEAST a week. His hair, an afro, was maybe 2 inches long and had not been combed for a long, long time. Honestly, he looked like a crackhead! We've all seen this look. Ok, I passed him and I thought about calling the police. I rushed to judgment and assumed he had stolen the bike either from the store or from some garage and some kid was gonna come home from school and not have a bike. I turned around and wanted to get another look before I did any thing… or did nothing. I turned around and I saw him again. This time, he was riding the bike. Another clue was the bike wasn't his size. It was way too small for him. And he was pedaling like he didn't know how to change the gears. I got a better look and clearly this dude was really dirty but was riding a really clean and well kept bike. I passed him again, turned around, and passed him a third time. I picked up my phone and I was gonna call him but I didn't. i kept saying to myself, im racial profiling. What if someone gave him the bike? What if he saved his money, bought the bike and was trying to make it to his job or mammas house? As I am writing this I have to be honest… I don't believe either of those explanations. That dude wearing the dirty clothes stole that green bike out of someones garage. I did nothing and I would have felt bad about calling the police...and actually, I feel bad about NOT calling the police.

What would you have done? Calls? Comments?

You're description said nothing of him being black except for when you prefaced the the post by saying you thought you were racially profiling. That tells me you're not racially profiling, just looking out for any anomalies no matter what shade their skin color is. BTW, after you passed him for the third time, if he really did steal it, he knows you were looking him over and prolly won't be back cause he afraid you'll recognize him.

Hmmm... I agree with Andrea, Why is it racial profiling when you see someone who LOOKS suspicious???? The police could have just stopped him and asked a few questions... Nothing wrong with that... if you aren't guilty of anything....
If this guy is really guilty and got away with it, then he now probably thinks your neighborhood is an easy target and will be back for more......Hope it's not your stuff next time....

I agree Al. If I had seen a seemingly homeless person with a brand new bike I would be suspicious no matter what race they were. Next time follow your instincts!

Have you become so politically correct that you ignored the obvious? If this same guy was holding a designer purse would you not have called the police as well? IDK..let common sense prevail in the future. The bike could have been yours, and you would have been happy that somebody took action. Oh...and I don't hate you at all. The fact that you are contemplating it shows that your heart is good.

Why is it racial profiling?? Just because he was black?? Wouldn't you assume he had stolen the bike if he looked like a white homeless man? You didn't think he stole the bike because he was black, but because of his unkempt appearance. I don't understand...
