On Dogs and Boyfriends

I haven't written on Kiddnation in a long time since I've started missvoran.wordpress.com (shameless plug, I know). But I read Al's post and it broke my heart. Ever since Toby left for Korea our puppy Cosette has been living with me. She's not quite a year and is definitely a handful. More energy in one living being I have never seen. And between working full time and school full time really the last thing I want to do when I get home is go to the park and run around or play fetch for hours. Sometimes she drives me batty, like the night she both chewed up my glasses and dug through my hamper and ate the clasps off of all my bras. ($600 worth of damage in just one night! Talent.) Or when I woke up to discover that she had jumped onto my kitchen table, grabbed a bag of marshmallows, ripped it open and strewn them all over my apartment. But when she sits looking up at me grinning with her floppy ears and tongue hanging out I can't help but adore her. And when I'm in crying in bed missing Toby and she cuddles with me all curled up I think how much my life would be lacking without her. So even now, as she's pouncing on me begging me to throw her toy over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, I am grateful that she's here. Grateful that she's given me yet another reason to laugh, and another reason to love.
