‘A Dog’s Purpose’ Premiere Is Canceled

Johnny Manziel is turning things around… “Black-ish” spin-off… Corinne’s nanny Raquel update… UGLY on the “Flip or Flop” set… and ‘A Dog’s Purpose’ premiere is canceled

He was the Heisman winning quarterback from Texas A&M with a bright future ahead of him. But after a very rough 2016, Johnny Manziel is ready to turn things around. He tweeted yesterday, “No lie.. I was a douche in 2016 I’m just trying to be a good PERSON again #LostInTheSauce.” Yes, he’s blaming it all on the alcohol. In January of last year, Johnny was accused of hitting and threatening his former girlfriend. In March, he was released from his four-year, $8.25 million contract with the Browns. In June, the NFL suspended him for violating their substance abuse policy. But then things started to turn around a bit for him in December, when he agreed to go through substance abuse and anger management programs and the domestic violence case against him was dropped. And now we have this optimistic tweet from Johnny, so we’ll see if he can turn it around in 2017.

If you’re a fan of “Black-ish” this news might get you excited. ABC is thinking about spinning off Zoey’s character into her own show, following her as she goes off to college. Sounds a lot like when the Huxtables sent Denise off to college in “A Different World.” But hopefully, Yara Shahidi is a little more level-headed than Lisa Bonet and Zoey will last longer than the one semester Denise did…. ABC is also looking at doing a spinoff from “The Goldbergs,” following the high school gym teacher Mellor, played by Bryan Callen.

So yesterday, we told you about the GoFundMe page set up for Corinne’s nanny Raquel, whom we met on “The Bachelor.” The guy who set up it up is hoping to raise $100K to free Raquel, promising to give it all to her if the goal is met. If it’s not, the money will go back to everybody who donated. At last check, there was only $355 in the pot, so it’s not looking like this will go any further than just a joke. But one person who is NOT amused by all of this is Corinne, who posted on Instagram yesterday, “This is not a joke anymore someone took this way too far and is trying to make money for themselves…Raquel is not a slave and my family and I treat her like part of the family. Leave it alone already it’s getting old. Grow up. #raquelisfree #celebnanny.” One person who sorta kinda has Corinne’s back is former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky, who told Entertainment Tonight, “This woman is her family’s housekeeper. She probably was Corinne’s nanny growing up but now she’s not her nanny. Corinne still lives with her parents, the housekeeper is still there and still doing things for her, so there’s a big distinction there…I hate to be mean, but someone as immature as Corinne thinks it’s funny to tell people she has a nanny.”

HGTV is taking advantage of all the drama going between the El Moussas and they are basically a non-stop “Flip or Flop” marathon every time I turn on the channel. And even though Tarek and Christina are going through a nasty divorce, they did resume filming for another season this week. But a source told RadarOnline.com that things are UGLY on set. The source said, “Tensions are ridiculous on the set with Tarek and Christina. Tarek yells at her in front of production and he is constantly putting her down. He says he blames her for leaking information about their split and he thinks that she sabotaged their marriage.” The source says Tarek thinks Christina is also trying to sabotage any chance he has of getting his own spinoff.

The red carpet premiere for “A Dog’s Purpose” has been canceled and all the actors’ schedules just freed up because their press junket has been canceled. On Wednesday, TMZ posted disturbing footage of a German Shepherd being forced into water and struggling to stay afloat. Yesterday, the movie studio released a statement saying, in part, that they “do not want anything to overshadow this film that celebrates the relationship between animals and humans.” It continued, “Since the emergence of the footage, Amblin has engaged with many associated with the production of the film, including safety personnel, trainers and stunt coordinators as part of their in-depth review. While we are all disheartened by the appearance of an animal in distress, everyone has assured us that Hercules the German Shepherd was not harmed throughout the filmmaking.” If an investigation proves there was any wrongdoing, some people on that set could actually end up going to jail. PETA is still asking us all to boycott the movie, which hits theaters next Friday.

Did the filmmakers go too far?
