It Was All Worth It
It Was All Worth It

It was the busiest weekend that I have had at my restaurant since I have been open. So, that’s why I decided to stay at a Bed and Breakfast in Waxahachie so I could be close by and I could take a short rest break if I needed to. Well, that didn’t happen. After a late Friday night and getting back to the room at 12:30am, I had told my mom that I would pick her up at 3:45 in the morning to take her to catch a charter bus to Prairie View for their Homecoming game. So after 2 hours of sleep, I made the 40-minute drive. Then, it was a 40-minute drive back to the hotel. After 1 hour of sleep, I had to get up to get ready for the busy day. We set up tents, filled up ice coolers, set up the stage… It was a LOT of work to get ready for the busy day. And at 11am, we were packed and stayed that way for a majority of the day. So, it was all worth it.

We probably served over 1500 people with food and/or drinks throughout the day and night. People always say I look stressed during these events. That’s because I usually am. I’m constantly worried about what might go wrong or putting out little fires like the kitchen being swamped and the door guy not showing up and running out of beer… But it all worked out. Sunday, it was clean up time and my body was, and still is tired from being on my feet. I was probably in the Bed and Breakfast hotel about 7-8 hours out of the 48 hours that I paid for…
