Did Jack slay the competition at the box office…Emma Stone gets crafty with her Tweets…and Charlie Sheen wants to be a mentor?
“Jack the Giant Slayer” was number one at the box office this weekend, taking in $28 million in its debut weekend. But nobody behind the scenes is doing a happy dance because “Jack” had a production budget of $195 million and needed a much stronger opening to start making some of that money back. In fact, at this point, “Jack the Giant Slayer” is on track to be as big a bomb as last year’s “John Carter.” “Identity Thief” came in second, earning $9.7 million and breaking the $100 million mark at home. The new movie, “21 and Over” opened in third with $9 million. But it’s gotten decent reviews and only cost $13 million to produce so they’re in good shape. And “The Last Exorcism Part II” was fourth with $8 million. The Rock’s “Snitch” was fifth with $7.7 million.
Emma Stone never tweets, but when she does, she’s gonna make you work for it. Yesterday afternoon, Emma tweeted, “nawder nad islasehne tsintgi ni a erte.” Say what? Well, Emma is way smarter than all of us and it turns out that wasn’t a foreign language, it was an anagram. If you rearrange the letters, you get, “Andrew and Shailene sitting in a tree.” But just as mysteriously as she tweeted, Emma deleted. Now, her boyfriend, Andrew Garfield, is starring with Shailene Woodley, in “The Amazing Spider Man 2.” Was Emma upset that the two of them were getting a little too close for her comfort? Was she just kidding around? I don’t know the intent, but after the post was deleted, Emma and Andrew were seen in NYC being all kissy-faced.
Charlie Sheen gave an exclusive statement to TMZ, saying his past experiences make him the perfect mentor for Lindsay Lohan, “who clearly needs a mentor, whether she wants one or not.” Charlie said that Lindsay “can continue to hang out with her dress shredding club buddies, or turn to me for some advice from a guy who’s been down the road as well as every other side trail on the journey. If she listens, she’ll win. If she doesn’t, that’s on her.” Well, Lindsay says, thanks for everything, but no thanks. A source told TMZ even though she was happy to take his $100K, she’s not interested in taking his advice. Meantime, RadarOnline.com is reporting that Lindsay’s former assistant is cooperating with prosecutors and is expected to be a key witness when she goes on trial for lying to police. A source says Gavin Doyle was a passenger in the Porsche Lindsay crashed into the back of a truck, but Lindsay told police that he was behind the wheel and not her.
They’re shaking things up over at “America’s Got Talent!” Sharon Osbourne quit after last season, and Howie Mandel confirmed last week that Scary Spice Mel B would be filling her seat. But how about this curve ball? AGT has decided to add a fourth judge, and it’s Heidi Klum! She signed the contract and hopped on the first plane to New Orleans for auditions.
Poor, Justin Bieber. He turned 19 on Friday but instead of a happy time celebrating with his friends, he tweeted: “Worst birthday ever.” Just reportedly spent thousands to hold a circus-themed party at a London nightclub, but reportedly stormed out when his underage friends — including Jaden Smith — weren’t allowed inside. Justin later tweeted, “The funny moment when people believe I brought underage people to a club. U think Will is letting his 14 year old in a club, I don’t think so.” Jaden seemed to be doing just fine whether he got kicked out of the club or not. He was seen out on a date with Kylie Jenner, but his dad tagged along as chaperone.
