“Despicable Me 2” was the big winner at the box office over the weekend. It took in $82.5 for the weekend, and $142.1 million for the extended five-day Fourth of July holiday box office totals. But the loser of the weekend was “The Lone Ranger.” This movie reportedly cost almost $300 million to make and only took in $29.4 million over the weekend, and just $48.9 million since opening on Wednesday.
50 Cent got into an ugly texting fight with his teenage son that has been made public by Radar Online. Fiddy went to pick up his 16-year-old son Marquise for visitation, but Marquise apparently didn’t want to see his dad and tried to pretend that he wasn’t home. So Fiddy texted Marquise that he just saw him peeking through the blinds and things turned ugly fast. Fiddy cussed Marquise out and demanded that he take a paternity test before saying he was finished with him for good and to delete his number. Just last week, Fiddy was charged with domestic violence after allegedly kicking his ex-girlfriend and destroying her property.
Even though it was her second wedding, it was his first, so Avril Lavigne wanted to go all out. She and Chad Kroeger flew their loved ones all the way from Canada to the French Riviera where they celebrated for three days before their July 1st ceremony at the Chateau de la Napoule. The couple went with a Goth theme, complete with Avril in a black Monique L’huillier gown and carrying a black bouquet. They are honeymooning in Portofino, Italy.
Kris Jenner reportedly is negotiating a deal for the first photos of her grandbaby, North West. Reportedly, the highest offer Kim Kardashian and Kanye West received so far is $4 million. Kim and the baby have been hiding out at Kris’ mansion since leaving the hospital, but they managed to sneak out of the house without the paparazzi noticing and get over to Bruce Jenner’s Malibu house for a Fourth of July party with the family.
John Mayer kicked off his “Born & Raised” tour in Milwaukee Saturday night with girlfriend Katy Perry watching the whole show from the mixing board. John gushed about Katy to the crowd, saying that she was patient and kind enough to get to know him and love him when he was recovering from vocal chord surgery. Apparently, he was virtually silent for 20 months! And for his last song of the night — “A Face to Call Home” — John dedicated it to “Katy, who is my face to call home.”
