One of the biggest struggles Kinsey and I have faced in the 13 years we have been together (we started dating each other when we were super young) is decorating. Yup. Decorating is a monster. We finally finished our living room. We have been married for almost 5 years, and just completed a living room. Some has to do with how expensive furniture is, and finding things that go well together. Kinsey thinks that the pieces in the living room should compliment each other. I just think they should have something fluffy for my butt to sit on.

bubble-guppiesAs of last week, the job had been done. We have the couch of Kinsey’s dream, we have a coffee table, a rug that accents the colors, a mirror, some art, a couple of lamps, a side table, and had finally bought two cool chairs. We went with chairs instead of a love seat, and by we, I mean Kinsey, because she studied some decorating styles online. As it often occurs when you have kids, there was an apple sauce explosion while the kids were going nuts dancing to Bubble Guppies… it’s a show, a very catchy show, that makes no sense to me because they live in water, but it’s scientifically flawed because they can smell, start fires, play sports, etc., as if they lived above water. That’s my only complaint. haha. Back to the chairs, Kinsey looked under the chairs as she searched to make sure no applesauce made its way onto them, and a sticker caught her eye. It said “this chair contains materials that may cause cancer”, or something close to that effect. The words “cause” and “cancer” were on the stickers. Within 2 minutes, Kinsey is dressed, and carrying the chairs to the car as she called the store to let them know.

First of all, why would a store sell something that may cause cancer? I am sure there are plenty of furniture manufacturers that don’t use those materials. I was, personally, ready to keep the chairs and gamble, but not Kinsey. So our living room is once again incomplete thanks to the cancer chairs. Kinsey spent the rest of the night looking at the stickers and tags of everything we own… which caused her to throw away more things: the spray things we have plugged into the wall. Kinsey went online and found some article that says those contain chemicals that may cause Cancer as well. Now, Cason goes around the house asking us “does this have Cancer, papa?” Hopefully he doesn’t take that question to school with him.
