J-Si’s Blog: Not paying close enough attention…

My family is back!!!!! I could have done without the drive out to the airport during rush hour, and the drive back home during rush hour. I felt bad for Kinsey, my sister in law, and the kids, because they were the ones who had been traveling all day long. Everything is back to normal. As nice as it was to sleep in on the weekend without having the kids wake me up by 6 am, I get too lonely at home by myself. I guess I am used to my two lil ones running around all day long. Makes the house feel complete.

Anyway, here’s a fun story that happened to me over the weekend. I was at a bar, having a drink. Just me and a buddy, nothing big. We weren’t doing the taking a ton of shots deal. Just two guys, catching up at the bar. Half the time, we weren’t even talking, we were doing the guy thing where we stared at the TV to see the sports highlights we have already seen all day long, but we do it anyways.

woman-screaming-blog-picOut of nowhere, a girl walks up to us, and stands between the stools we are sitting in. She had the “acknowledge me” look going, so my buddy said, “Hi.” She ignored that. Shifted her stare towards me, and then proceeds to say, “aren’t you ******g married?” I had no idea where this was going, so I responded with a good old “yes.” She then gets a bit louder, because why not, and says, “then where the ***k is your ring?!?!” I looked up at my buddy, calmly, then looked at her. I was about to answer, when she started going off on me, in front of the other people at this bar. She was telling me about how she hates men like me, she was pointing at my hand the whole time, and telling me how I am the biggest piece of crap on this planet, in much harsher words than that. In my mind I was hoping this would end soon, and I was also wondering if anyone was in a relationship with her… and if so, I felt the desire to save that poor soul.

I let her get venting out, she had created her scene, few people were staring. Once she was done I was left speechless, because she had not even introduced herself, I had not introduced myself, so basically we were just two strangers having a great time. I looked at her and said, “did you get everything you needed to get out?” She didn’t answer that question, she continued with, “that’s what I thought… trying to change the subject.” (pretty sure asking if she got everything out is not changing the subject). So instead of continuing to let the inebriated girl keep talking down to me, so I calmly lifted my left hand and pointed at my wedding ring and said, “most people wear their ring on the left hand, not the right.” Did she apologize? Of course not. She just turned around and walked away, and I felt good. Hopefully the rest of the night went much smoother for her.
