Jenna’s Blog – How Did Carrie Do It?

No, really. How in the world did Carrie go so many years without a cell phone? I always envisioned how free and chic it seemed to be cell-less. It’s not so freeing. You’re actually kind of a prisoner. I made it all of one day and now I’m rocking a trendy iphone 3. that’s right. 3G. couldn’t be faster. I never even had a 3g. I’m really glad I used my upgrade to the 4s just a few months ago. Now, I can’t afford a new one. Luckily, my phone breaking is not my fault. I am using the Lindsay Lohan excuse and blaming it on the Ambien. Lesson to the children: Don’t take an Ambien before you are home in your bed. And don’t let your friend take an Ambien and hold your purse. My chivalrous guy friend was hailing me a cab late Saturday night and decided to skip my white clutch like it was a rock across a pond. Awesome. I do recall be belongings being strewn across the street and my roommate and I scrambling to pick up my ID and other items. Holly and I made it home safely but I awoke to a beautiful Sunday morning, looking less than beautiful and cell phone-less as well. “Maybe the phone is still in the street?” Holly says. No way right? Of course it was in a gutter on the side of the road. DEAD. So water logged they couldn’t even charge it at the store. My guy friend who is at fault told me he’d get me the new iPhone 5, but it doesn’t come out for week probably. So, I am rocking his 2010 iPhone 3. So here’s the moral dilemma. Do you watch the videos and look at the photos BEFORE you clear and sync the phone? An honorable and boring person would say NO WAY. But of course, curiosity is too overpowering. I haven’t watched yet, but I am tempted. Would you? You know you would…

The weekend actually started off way better than that. Holly and I have decided that since life has been the antithesis of happy, we are going to limit ourselves to one night a weekend out. Friday is now date night with each other and then home to lounge on the couch. Friday was glorious. We had a romantic wine date and shared an entree and caught up about our week. It sounds ridiculous that we miss each other so much considering we live together, but with our opposite work schedules, we really don’t see one another that often during the week. After nearly a year of living together, we are basically the same person. We share everything almost to the point that we are married. And I don’t feel like I owe her any “favors” at the end of the night. Can’t beat that right? Of course I slept in to the very late hour of 7am on Saturday. I have to say, I really love the feeling of not being hungover and being done with the gym and errands by 12. There’s a whole day still ahead, and this day was better than most. The perks of having a friend that is a fashion photographer are unparalleled, especially when she is shooting clothes I will likely never be able to afford. She had a gig Saturday where she was shooting Alexander McQueen dresses, Rick Owens leather jackets, Balenciaga coats and leather pants. If you have never heard of these, just know that it’s basically the best stuff money can buy in terms of fashion, and it costs A LOT of money. Purple leather pants that cost 2 grand? I’d love to try those on. I could barely squeeze into them, but I managed to do it without ripping them. The 7k rabbit fur coat would not have made PETA very happy. I’m not even down with real fur, but it was there, so I had to try it on. What a cool, cool job she has and how generous and trusting of her to let me do that. I am so proud of some of my friends sometimes. I don’t take for granted what a cool job I have, but some of my friends have really great jobs as well. She’s my age and one of the best photographers in the city. I just love that!
