Chris Brown files a defamation lawsuit. A$AP Rocky pleads not guilty. Are the Obamas doing okay? All this AND MUCH MORE!

Critics’ tastes don’t always align with our tastes. So Talker Research did a survey of 2000 random Americans asking what were THEIR favorite movies and TV shows of 2024.  When it comes to movies, A Complete Unknown was the most loved film, followed by Deadpool & Wolverine and The Wild Robot. But the most watched movies, the Top 5 were:

1. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

  1. 2. Deadpool & Wolverine
  2. 3. Bad Boys: Ride of Die
  3. 4. A Quiet Place: Day One
  4. 5. Twisters

In TV, people loved Shōgun the most, followed closely by The Bear and then Landman. But the Top 5 most-watched of 2024 were:

1. Fallout (Amazon Prime)

  1. 2. The Penguin (HBO)
  2. 3. Dune: Prophecy (HBO)
  3. 4. House of the Dragon (Season 2 – HBO)
  4. 5. The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power (Season 2 – Amazon Prime)

Chris Brown has filed a $500M defamation lawsuit against Warner Bros for their Investigation Discovery docuseries Chris Brown: A History of Violence. Chris accuses the producers of  “libel and intentional infliction of emotional distress through defamatory claims made against him.” The lawsuit states, “To put it simply, this case is about the media putting their own profits over the truth. Since the beginning of October of 2024, Ample LLC and Warner Brothers were put on notice that they were promoting and publishing false information in their pursuit of likes, clicks, downloads and dollars and to the detriment of Chris Brown. Ultimately, on October 27, 2024, they aired Chris Brown: A History of Violence (the ‘Documentary’), knowing that it was full of lies and deception and violating basic journalist principles.” The lawsuit alleges the claims made by “Jane Doe” in this docuseries have been repeatedly discredited and that she was “a perpetrator of intimate partner violence and (an) aggressor herself.” Chris’ lawsuit does acknowledge his past mistakes, but says he has  “grown from those experiences, and his evolution speaks for itself.

At long last, A$AP Rocky will have his day in court. A$AP has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Back in 2021, A$AP got into an argument with former childhood friend Terell Ephon. Terell says A$AP fired a gun at him, but thankfully, the bullets only grazed his knuckles. In 2023 a judge ruled there was enough evidence for this to go to trial and finally, here we are. Jury selection began yesterday and opening statements could come as early as today. Everyone is hoping to see Rihanna in the courtroom supporting her man, but A$AP’s attorney has suggested that’s highly unlikely. If he’s convicted, A$AP faces up to 24 years in prison.

Back in October, Barack and Michelle Obama celebrated their 32nd anniversary. That same month, Jimmy Kimmel asked his guest Jennifer Aniston about the craziest rumors that have ever been spread about her, and then produced the In Touch magazine cover story that she was having an affair with Barack. Jennifer scoffed, saying she’d only met the former president once and was closer with Michelle. But she also giggled, “I was not mad at it.” Fast forward to President Obama showing up solo to Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Donald Trump’s inauguration, and rumors that he and Michelle are heading for divorce are picking up more steam. Jessica Reed Kraus, aka House In Habit, shot to fame during the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard trial. She’s an independent journalist who traveled with RFK Jr. this past year and has been mingling among Washington elites for the past year. She posted, “For months, I’ve heard Jennifer Aniston’s name tied to Barack. At first, it seemed ridiculous, but the rumors have remained steady among New York and L.A. circles.” Then she shared a DM she received on Monday:  “He’s sleeping with Jennifer Aniston. My old manager, now a friend, is connected to her inner circle. At a gathering with Jennifer’s friends, the affair came up casually—Jennifer herself admitted it. They were sitting with a psychic, which makes it sound surreal, but it’s definitely not a secret among her closest friends.” Jessica added, “For now, it’s all whispers. But the whispers are getting louder.”

Justin Baldoni’s team is planning to launch a website filled with their proof that Blake Lively has been lying about his behavior on the set of It Ends With Us. After Blake filed a sexual harassment complaint against Justin, he countered with a $400M lawsuit against her, Ryan Reynolds and their publicist for defamation, extortion and more. One of Blake’s complaints was from a slow-dancing scene they filmed where they talked a lot of gibberish because none of their dialogue was going to be used. Blake claims Justin crossed a line and creeped her out when he “leaned forward and slowly dragged his lips from her ear and down her neck as he said, ‘it smells so good.’”  Justin has the raw footage from that very moment, which TMZ posted. You can hear them playfully banter back and forth, until this lip-dragging moment. Blake jokes about getting spray tan on him and he jokes that it smells good. That’s basically it. And while Justin’s team says this proves he’s telling the truth, Blake’s team says it proves she’s telling the truth!
