Nicki Minaj Calls Out Miley Cyrus on Stage at the MTV VMAs

Weekend box office news… Wes Craven passed away… Andi Dorfman returns to the Bachelor… Kanye West’s acceptance speech… and Nicki Minaj calls out Miley Cyrus on stage at the MTV VMAs

That’s three weeks in a row! “Straight Outta Compton” is still number one at the box office, taking in another $13.2 million. Coming in second was a big surprise — a little talked-about Christian movie called “War Room.” This movie cost just $3 million to make and earned an unpredicted $11 million this weekend to take the number two spot. Coming in third was “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation” with another $8.3 million.

The man who gave us “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Scream” has passed away. Wes Craven was 76. He died after a battle with brain cancer. His final project, “The Girl in the Photographs,” is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month.

I don’t THINK this is a spoiler alert and forgive me if it is, but there’s a rumor that former Bachelor contestant turned Bachelorette Andi Dorfman may be pulling a Nick Viall. And by that, I mean she could show up late in the game during Ben Higgins’ season as the Bachelor. Of course, she’ll be promoting her book while she’s making this obviously serious attempt at finding love on reality TV for the third time….

There are too many winners to announce from last night’s MTV VMAs, but they’re all a quick google search away. However, we must talk about Kanye West’s 12-minute acceptance speech after receiving this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. After apologizing/explaining that incident with Taylor Swift from 6 years ago and busting Justin Timberlake when he lost the Grammy for Album of the Year, Kanye said he still doesn’t understand awards shows and slammed MTV for using the Taylor incident to get more ratings. He ended his speech by announcing he’s running for president in 2020.

Last week, Miley Cyrus called out Nicki Minaj for being Nicki Minaj when she called out MTV for not nominating “Anaconda” for Video of the Year. Nicki decided to use her acceptance speech for Best Hip Hop Video to bust on Miley. After thanking her pastor, Nicki said, “And now back to this b*tch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?” Miley immediately deflected blame onto the media who manipulated her words and then congratulated Nicki for her win. But THEN she not-so-subtly blasted Nicki by saying she lost an award in 2008 but managed to get over it. Still, people were wondering if this whole thing was staged. E! doesn’t think so. Their source says that Miley was ticked off and that “she stormed backstage cursing and yelling about it as she headed toward her dressing room.”
