In Netflix news, did you know that “Poop’s Creek” was just a little Canadian TV Show until it hit Netflix and became a massive hit? The star and creator of the show Dan Levy — who played David — has signed a new deal with Netflix, which includes a first look feature deal and one scripted show. Right now Dan is working on an original untitled romantic comedy that he will write, produce, direct and star in. In other news, Netflix is being sued over one line that was said in the very last episode of “The Queen’s Gambit.” During a chess tournament in Russia, the TV announcer says, “The only unusual thing about her, really, is her sex, and even that’s not unique in Russia. There’s Nona Gaprindashvili, but she’s the female world champion and has never faced men.” Well, that’s just not true. Nona is now 80 years old, but she still wants Netflix to pay her millions in damages for this outright lie. She DID play men in chess and she WON. In fact, Nona was the first woman to be named a grandmaster and STILL competes in senior chess tournaments. Nona said, “They were trying to do this fictional character who was blazing the trail for other women, when in reality, I had already blazed the trail and inspired generations.” A spokesperson for Netflix says Nona’s claim has no merit and they will vigorously defend themselves.

Adele is now Instagram official with her boyfriend, Rich Paul. He’s a sports agent and represents really big names, but the biggest is LeBron James. They were first photographed together at the NBA Finals back in July. The two of them attended a friend’s wedding over the weekend and Adele posted a photo of the two of them together. And if you want to check out her dancing skills, the Daily Mail has video of Adele twerking on the dance floor at the reception.

Rich people weddings are WAY different. For instance, when Troy Brown took Kristin Ryan as his bride in Cape Cod over the weekend, Bruno Mars was hired to perform at the reception. The father of the bride happens to be the CEO of Motorola, and he reportedly wrote Bruno a check somewhere between the high six- to seven-figure range. Page Six all the guests were required to be vaccinated, so how many of them do you think got the jab just so they could get up close to Bruno?

What do you have to do to get your TikTok video to go viral? Try videoing two women going at a music festival while Olivia Rodrigo is singing “Drivers License.” These two women are throwing punches at each other and we have no idea why. But while the camera is whipping around trying to catch the action, the guy recording it is just trying to get into this song. The video was captioned, “bro we were just tryna enjoy olivia rodrigo 😢😢.”

While you were watching football, some celebrities got together for a party and some of them took home Emmy awards. The big winners of the night were “The Crown” and “Ted Lasso. Each won 7 Emmys last night, although “The Crown” won 4 more in the previously-announced wins. And while a record number of 49 non-white performers were nominated this year, all 12 acting awards went to white people. Thus, #EmmySoWhite was trending during the telecast. However, RuPaul made Emmy history. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” won for outstanding competition program and RuPaul won an Emmy for hosting it, making him the most decorated person of color in Emmy history with 11 wins.
