The Academy invites 819 new members… E! new show… YouTube has suspended monetization on Shane Dawson… Khloe Kardashian sparks rumours she’s engaged… and A rumored relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith

Remember when #OscarsSoWhite was our biggest problem? Well, it’s still a problem, but the Academy is taking steps to correct that. They have invited 819 artists to join the Academy. Among them, 36 percent are people of color, 45 percent are women, and 49 percent are based outside of the United States. Awkwafina, Zendaya, Constance Wu, Eva Longoria, Niece Nash, Ana De Armas, and Beanie Feldstein are just some of the women invited, and among the men are Ryan Murphy, Bobby Cannavale and Tim McGraw! By bringing in more diverse members, problem solved, right? Nope! The Academy is taking it a step further by making unconscious bias training mandatory for all Academy governors, executive committee members and staff. They’re also creating a task force “to develop and implement new representation and inclusion standards for Oscars eligibility.” There are a few more changes. For instance, until now, the Best Picture Nominees could include anywhere from 5 to 10 films. Now, there will be a guaranteed ten.

Nick Cannon can’t stop, won’t stop. E! has picked up a new show he’s produced called “Celebrity Call Center.” And because there are no new ideas, this is based on a British show that gives regular people the chance to receive advice from celebrities. They’re going to keep the topics lighthearted, but they should be relatable. Celebrities including Real Housewives stars Nene Leakes and Kandi Burruss, Alyssa Milano, Kelly Osbourne and Nick himself will give advice based on their own experiences. It debuts on July 13 and they’ve got eight episodes in the can. If it’s a hit, we’ll get more.

We’ve got a Shane Dawson update. On Friday, he posted a 20 minute video apologizing for past YouTube videos that were racist and sexually inappropriate. Then an old video quickly started circulating that showed Shane sexualizing a poster of Willow Smith while she was only 11 years old. Willow’s mom and brother called him out on Twitter, but so far Shane hasn’t commented on the Willow situation. However, Shane is facing consequences. Remember how Shane said he deserved to lose everything? Think he really meant that? Well, YouTube has suspended monetization on all three of Shane’s highly successful channels, including his main one which has 22.5M subscribers and more than 35M monthly views. Shane’s net worth is estimated to be around $36M, and most of that was made from YouTube. This isn’t a permanent move, YouTube is leaving that open-ended. I’m sure they’re waiting to see how quickly the public moves on because YouTube isn’t about doing what’s moral. They’re about making money. Meantime, Target has removed two of Shane’s books from their stores, and the makeup company Morphe has taken down Shane’s new makeup collaboration with fellow YouTuber Jeffree Star. Sources say Shane is expected to earn $25M from that makeup pallet. WHAT????

She hasn’t commented, but she certainly sees all the comments and you know she’s loving it! Khloe Kardashian’s fans are convinced she’s engaged after she posted photos from her 36th birthday party and she was wearing a huge pear-shaped ring on THAT finger. She and Tristan Thompson have been quarantining together with their 2-year-old daughter True and from the looks of things, they’re absolutely blissful. Even though Tristan cheated on her when she was pregnant, Khloe took him back. But when he got caught making out with Jordyn Woods, that was the final straw. In February 2019, Khloe broke up with Tristan, but despite her tremendous pain, she was adamant about protecting his relationship with True and co-parenting their daughter. Khloe put up a wall around her heart, but Tristan has spent the last year and a half chipping away at it! Maybe they’ll sit on the big news until the next season of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

A singer named August Alsina claims he had a love affair with Jada Pinkett Smith — and Will Smith gave his blessing! In a YouTube documentary promoting his new album, August claims that Jaden Smith introduced him to his mom back in 2015. He got so close to the family, they invited him on their vacation to Hawaii in 2016 and in 2017, he was invited to go to the BET Awards. Before long, August fell in love with Jada. He explained, “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership … and he gave me his blessing.” August said he spent years of his life completely devoted to Jada and he feels so blessed because some people never get to experience a love like that. They’re no longer together and August didn’t say what happened, but what he did say was, “…once it starts to affect me and my livelihood — I have to speak up about my truth.” August claims he’s lost money, friendships, and relationships over all this, but he still loves the entire Smith family and doesn’t have a bad thing to say about any of them. Jada’s rep fired off a statement saying this is “absolutely not true!!”
