Box office weekend news… Penelope Cruz named Sexiest Woman Alive… Cameron Diaz wearing a ring… Hugh Grant won’t be in third “Bridget Jones” movie… and Amanda Bynes tricked into getting help
Before Jennifer Garner, there was Jennifer Lopez. But Ben Affleck’s former fiancee doesn’t have any hard feelings towards her ex. In fact, JLo contributed to the “Gone Girl” box office totals this weekend by attending a Saturday night showing. “Gone Girl” was number one for a second weekend, earning another $26.8 million. “Dracula Untold” debuted in second with $23.5 million. And the new “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” was third with $19.1 million.
For some unknown reason, “Esquire” magazine has named Penelope Cruz as the Sexiest Woman Alive — the 11th woman to hold that title. Last years sexiest was Scarlett Johansson. Previous sexiest include Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Rihanna and Charlize Theron.
Cameron Diaz showed up at a Hollywood event last week wearing a ring on THAT finger. It wasn’t a typical engagement ring, but Cameron and Benji Madden aren’t your typical couple. And later that same night, Benji and Cameron met friends for dinner in Beverly Hills and she was flaunting her ring so it COULD be an engagement ring….
Hugh Grant told “Free Radio” that he has decided not to be in a third “Bridget Jones” movie. Hugh said he thinks they’ll go ahead with the movie, but they’ll just do it without his character, Daniel Cleaver. Meantime, “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” has not officially entered the development stage yet, so there is a chance that Hugh could change his mind.
Amanda Bynes was tricked into flying from NY to LA on Friday where she was checked into a mental hospital. And the person getting credit for pulling this off is Sam Lufti — the man who many blame for Britney Spears’ downward spiral. Sam contacted Amanda last Thursday and convinced her to sue her parents, telling her that she needed to fly back to LA so he could hook her up with a lawyer. He said he’d have a car waiting for her to take her to the lawyer’s office and then to the London Hotel, where she would confront her parents. But Sam was actually working WITH Amanda’s parents. When she landed in LA, the driver took her straight to a hospital in Pasadena where she was placed on a 5150 hold for 72 hours. Doctors could extend that to 2 weeks. During that time, Amanda’s parents will try to get another conservatorship.
