It comes as no surprise that “Jurassic World Dominion” opened in first place at the box office this weekend, bumping “Top Gun: Maverick” down to second. Despite terrible critical reviews — including a harsh one from our very own Grae Drake — “Jurassic World Dominion” took in an estimated $143.4M in the US and $389M globally. In its third week of release, “Maverick” added another $50M to its totals, pushing it closer to that $400M mark in the US. In other movie news, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was released back in December and it’s now the 6th highest-grossing movie of all time with $1.9B. But to squeeze a little more money out of us, they are re-releasing the movie in theaters on Sept. 2, with added and extended scenes we didn’t see in the original. It’s called “Spider-Man: No Way Home — The More Fun Stuff Version.”

Two weeks ago, Michael Jordan was the only billionaire athlete. Now, we have three! Last week “Forbes” announced that LeBron James had reached the $1B net worth mark, and now they say Tiger Woods has done the same. “Forbes” estimates Tiger has earned a total of $1.7B in salary over his 27-year career. But the majority of his $1B net worth is from lucrative sponsorship and endorsement deals, including partnerships with Nike, Gatorade, and Monster Energy.

After sending an inappropriate text to a contestant, Matthew Morrison was fired as a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance.” He has now been replaced by Leah Remini. Seems a little random, but Leah did compete on Season 17 of “Dancing With the Stars,” finishing in fifth. She also served as a guest judge on that show during Season 28. Leah released a statement saying, “I am thrilled to join So You Think You Can Dance on its milestone 300th episode. I look forward to guiding these incredibly talented artists through this competition as a fan of the show and a great admirer of dancers. I can’t wait to see the artistry that the contestants bring to the stage.” Leah makes her first appearance on Wednesday, alongside fellow judges JoJo Siwa and Stephen “tWitch” Boss.

Justin Bieber is postponing shows to deal with his health. Justin posted a video for his fans, explaining that he has Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which has caused part of his face to be paralyzed. He said, “As you can probably see from my face, I have Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves…As you can see, this eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move. So there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.” He continued, “So for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious, as you can see. I wish this wasn’t the case, but obviously, my body’s telling me I gotta slow down and I hope you guys understand.” Ramsay Hunt syndrome is rare, but it’s not contagious. It happens when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears. In addition to the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear.
Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation and won. Amber doesn’t think that was fair. She sat down with Savannah Guthrie this past Thursday for a top-secret interview, part of which was aired on the “Today” show this morning. The full interview will be shown Friday night on “Dateline.” During the clip that was shown, Amber blamed the jury’s decision on social media, claiming there was no way the jury wasn’t biased by what they saw. She also suggests that the jury was charmed by Johnny’s “excellent acting” on the stand and that the witnesses called to testify on Johnny’s behalf were “paid employees and randos” who failed to tell the truth. Amber told Savannah, “Even somebody who is sure I’m deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I’m lying, you still couldn’t look me in the eye that you think on social media there’s been a fair representation. You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair.”
