Remember how excited the movie studios were when “Wonder Woman 1984” opened over Christmas with 16.7M? It was the biggest opening since the pandemic shut everything down. Just 3 months later, “Godzilla vs. Kong” crushed box office expectations, earning $48.5M from its opening on Wednesday through Easter weekend. Both movies were also released on HBO Max the same day it hit theaters. HBO Max didn’t release streaming numbers for “Godzilla vs. Kong”, but they said it had a larger audience in its first four days than any other film or show so far. In other movie news, LeBron James’ “Space Jam: A New Legacy” is coming July 16 — in theaters and HBO Max — and the trailer dropped this weekend. We found out that the new voice of Lola Bunny will be Zendaya.

A little over a week ago, burglars broke into Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s home through a window. The burglars quickly left when they realized Shawn and Camila were home, but they grabbed the keys to Shawn’s Mercedes G-Wagon on the way out and took off in it. Shawn got some good news — his G-Wagon was found parked on a residential street in what sources say was surprisingly good condition. No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing. By the way, G-Wagons START at $131K.

One of the few things we had to look forward to when the pandemic first started was the “Friends” reunion on HBO Max. It was supposed to debut when HBO Max launched in May 2020, but filming kept getting pushed back because of COVID. According to the “Hollywood Reporter,” they will film the reunion this week. Still no idea when we’ll actually get to see it.

Last week, Britney Spears broke her silence about the “Framing Britney Spears” documentary. She posted a video of her dancing and her caption said that while she hasn’t watched it, what she did see was embarrassing and made her cry for two weeks straight. A lot of people believe that Britney has no control over her social media — including her former makeup artist, Billy Brasfield. He claims he texted Britney about the IG post and she responded right away that she had no say so in the caption about her crying over the documentary. TMZ says they reached out to Britney about her text exchange with Billy and she responded, “No, I’m not talking to him at all. I write my posts. I’m not sure who he is talking to, but I am not talking to Billy B.”

“Bridgerton” fans were shocked on Friday when Regé-Jean Page revealed on his Instagram that he would not be returning to “Bridgerton.” Kim Kardashian commented on his post, “Wait!!! WHAT???” and then posted on her IG Story, ““I’m NOT OK!!!!! What is happening!!??? How can this be?” But it’s true, Netflix also posted an announcement in the form of a Lady Whistledown post, “While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer—more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.” Regé-Jean has said that he never intended to come back for a second season. He and his character were always going to be one and done.
