Weekend box office… Honey Boo Boo pays tribute… Snoop Dogg streams on Spotify… Celebrity roundup… and Britney Spears briefly shows support for Jamie Lynn Spears
Unfortunately, Beyoncé only got to enjoy one week in the top spot. It was a slow weekend at the box office, but with $12.8M the new anime movie The Boy and the Heron debuted in first place. This is the first American No. 1 debut for Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. Coming in second was The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes with another $9.4M. Still in third was another Japanese film, Godzilla Minus One with $8.3M. Coming in fourth was Trolls Band Together with $6.2M, followed by Wish with $5.3M. Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé got knocked all the way down from first to sixth place, taking in just $5M in its second weekend of release.
'THE BOY AND THE HERON' becomes the first original Japanese animated film to debut at #1 on the domestic box office.

Sad news for fans of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. Back in January , Mama June’s oldest daughter Chickadee — aka Anna Cardwell — was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma. Doctors then learned the cancer has spread to Anna’s lung, liver and kidney and she underwent her first round of chemotherapy in March. But after a long, hard battle, Anna has passed away. She was only 29. Anna is survived by her 11-year-old daughter Kaitlyn Elizabeth and 8-year-old Kylee Madison. Mama June announced her daughter’s passing last night on Instagram, sharing a recent family photo with a caption that began, “With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM. She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her…”

Earlier this year, Snoop Dogg went off script during a panel discussion about AI to question why music streaming services pay artists so little. He asked, “Can someone explain to me how you can get a billion streams and not get a million dollars?” And since Snoop is asking streaming services to be more transparent, so will he! On the Business Untitled podcast, Snoop said when he was told he’d reached a billion streams on Spotify, he asked his publisher to break it down in dollars. Snoop said, “That s*** wasn’t even $45k.” Doing the math, that means Snoop earned less than .0045% on one BILLION streams.

In celebrity relationship news — Five months after filing for divorce from Sofia Vergara, Joe Manganiello walked the red carpet at the 20th annual Children of Armenian Fund Holiday Gala in NYC on Saturday with his new girlfriend, Caitlin O’Connor. The two of them reportedly met in September at a party for Season 2 of Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, in which Caitlin plays a young Dyan Cannon. According to People, they both ended up in a hot tub at the afterparty where Joe and Caitlin discovered they were both from the Pittsburgh area, and it was on! Meantime, Sofia Vergara has been dating orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman. And while Joe and Sofia have both moved on from their marriage, so has Cardi B. Last week, she and Offset unfollowed each other on social media and Cardi posted a cryptic message about outgrowing relationships and prioritizing herself. Then over the weekend, Blueface went on a Twitter/X tirade accusing Offset of sleeping with his girlfriend Chrisean Rock while he was married to Cardi. Offset responded, “I ain’t never talk or touch that lady. Real talk man you need some help!” And then last night in an Instagram Live, Cardi said she doesn’t think Offset hooked up with Chrisean, adding, “I don’t care to find out because I’ve been single for a minute now. I just don’t know how to tell the world….I want to start 2024 fresh, open. I’m curious for a new life, a new beginning. I’m excited.”

We keep up with Britney Spears’ Instagram so you don’t have to! Britney went topless — again — in an :08 video, rolling around on her bed wearing pink panties and shiny blue knee-high boots. This was posted the day after her sister Jamie Lynn posted a bathroom selfie flashing her granny panties, captioning it, “Maybe she’s born with it, or maybe it’s @spanx and, most likely @skims too.” I guess Britney wanted to show baby sis how to show off your panties properly? Earlier this weekend, Britney also posted — and then promptly deleted — a photo of Jamie Lynn with the caption, “I’m so proud of my sister! She did so good on Dancing with the Stars!”
