Netflix password-sharing crackdown continues… Oscars swag bag… DMX’s funeral… Paisley Park will welcome back a select 1,400 fans… and Britney Spears’ conservatorship case

Last month, Netflix announced they are testing cracking down on password sharing. Some users are seeing a message on their screen that says “If you don’t live with the owner of this account, you need your own account to keep watching.” In a new interview this week, Netflix executives said they are still testing and have not decided if they will move forward with it or not just yet. Netflix’s co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings said “….we test many things…It has got to feel like it makes sense to consumers, that they understand…We recognize our members are in a different position and have different needs … and we’re seeking that flexible approach to make sure that we are providing the plan with the right features and the right price points to meet those needs.”

Ratings for awards shows keep declining. In fact, ratings for the ACM Awards hit a record low of 6.3M, down from 6.6M last year. Yet, here comes another one! This Sunday night, it’s the 93rd Academy Awards, and prepare yourself for another record-breaking low audience because there were only a handful of new releases to be judged over the past year. But the celebs who are nominated are thrilled because SWAG BAGS are back! This year, there’s over six figures worth of trips and whatnot for A-listers, like luxury pajamas, tennis shoes, essential oils, snacks, and wine….But let’s talk abut the trips. This year, Oscar nominees get a 2-night trip to Fiji at a private resort with a staff of 12 and your own personal 5-star chef. Only 2 nights??? You fly all the way to Fiji for two nights??? At least they’re giving the Oscar nominees 4 nights at a resort in Turks & Caicos. There are also 3-night trips to the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas.

The memorial service for DMX will be held this Saturday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Page Six is reporting that Swizz Beatz has reached out to Kanye West to participate. In the past, Kanye had DMX deliver a prayer at one of his Sunday Services. In fact, Page Six has the video Kim posted of that prayer, if you’d like to check it out. The memorial service will be open to the public, and it should feature a who’s who of the rap world.

Britney Spears’ mom Lynne has filed legal papers against Britney’s daddy Jamie because she objects to the legal fees Jamie has racked up at Britney’s expense! Jamie hired a law firm to defend him against being removed as Britney’s co-conservator and the tab was close to $900K for just four months of work! Of course, Jamie doesn’t have that kind of money, so Britney was legally obligated to pay for it. Lynne wants those expenses reviewed with a fine tooth comb and have her daughter re-imbursed for any unnecessary charges. The next hearing on Britney’s conservatorship is this Tuesday, at which Britney’s temporary conservator of her person, Jodi Montgomery, will be made permanent.
