The ratings are in for the VMAs, and like every other award show, they are way down. Only 900K people tuned in for the live vent, which aired on 13 different networks. That’s down 32 percent from last year. And viewership among the audience they were targeting the hardest — the 18 to 49 year old age group — was down 17 percent. But unlike the old days, ratings aren’t always the measure of success. The VMAs were a huge hit on social media, generating 38M interactions, beating the Super Bowl for the first time ever, and becoming the top telecast for social media buzz this year.

The Met Gala was this week in NYC. It is one of the biggest events for celebrities of the year. All the celebs squeezed into their dresses…so what did they eat at the event? Keke Palmer posted pictures of the food that was served at this $30k a person event. On really large plates, celebs were served a small portion of vegetables — including corn, tomatoes, mushroom, cucumbers — and some grains. Keke wrote “This is why they don’t show y’all the food I’m just playinnnn ” A ton of people commented it looked like the pathetic food served at the Fyre Festival. The head chef of the event is defending his food. Marcus Samuelsson is the restaurateur/chef who helped select the 10 up-and-coming chefs who created the sustainable, plant-based menu. Marcus says food, like anything, is a matter of taste, and it tasted good. He says the 3-course meal was delicious and the feedback he got has been incredible.

In movie news, “The Batman” starring Robert Pattinson doesn’t hit theaters until March but a spinoff series is already in the works. “The Batman” takes place in the second year of Bruce Wayne being Batman while The Penguin, played by Colin Ferrell, is trying to become a crime kingpin in Gotham. HBO Max is creating a spinoff about The Penguin, also starring Colin. It’s described as a “Scarface-like” series about The Penguin’s climb in the world of crime. And this isn’t the only spinoff series in the works. Last summer, HBO Max ordered a series based on the corrupt Gotham City police department. And in other movie news, Tracy Morgan will star in the sequel to the 1988 hit movie “Twins.” In the original, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito find out they’re twins separated at birth after a secret experiment carried out at a genetics lab. In the spinoff called “Triplets,” they find out Tracy is related and that they’re actually triples!

Justin Bieber performed his song “Baby” for the celebs at the Met Gala Monday night, and was that his way of telling us a baby is on the way?? A lot of people think Hailey is pregnant after what happened on the red carpet. While posing for the cameras, Justin put his hand on Hailey’s stomach. She immediately pushes is away and whispers something to Justin. Everyone is trying to read her lips to figure out what was up. Some believe she said, “Don’t make it look so obvious,” while others think she said, “Babe, they’ll think I’m pregnant.” I guess we’ll find out soon enough!

Britney Spears sent her fans into a panic yesterday when her Instagram account was deactivated. For the past several months, Britney has been more active and outspoken on her Instagram, posting a lot of semi-nudes, speaking about her conservatorship, and even thanking the #FreeBritney movement. But yesterday, BOOM. It was all gone. However, a source told Page Six that it was Britney’s decision to take a social media break. Page Six also reached out to Britney’s attorney and he agreed, this was her decision. And to make sure we all got that message, Britney then tweeted, ““Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement 💍 😉!!!! I’ll be back soon 💋🌹✨ .”
