Britney Spears Wants Father Jamie Removed as Sole Conservator

$1 billion box office milestone… Two more Twilight books… Performance of ‘Rain On Me’… Dylan Sprouse & Barbara Palvin’s Insta series… and Britney Spears wants father Jamie removed as sole conservator

It’s been 19 years since “Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone” hit theaters. Over the years, it earned $947M worldwide, but thanks to China reopening its theaters and re-releasing the movie, that movie that started it all has now crossed the $1B mark. This is the second movie in the “Harry Potter” franchise to hit that milestone. The final film in the series — “Deathly Hallows – Part 2” — has earned $1.34B. If you combine all eight “Harry Potter” movies and the two “Fantastic Beasts” films, the entire Wizarding World franchise has earned over $9.2B, making it the third highest-grossing franchise in history. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the record holder with $22.5B. The second highest-grossing franchise is “Star Wars” with $10.3B.

Were you sad when the Twilight series ended? Did you close that book with a tear in your eye, wishing you could hear more from Edward and Bella? Fear not. Stephanie Meyer says she has two more books planned in her Twilight series, but it’s going to be a while before she gets around to actually writing them. Stephanie told “USA Today” she has them outlined and she even has one chapter written. But Stephanie wants to get some other books out of her system before she goes any further with the vampires. She said, “I really want to do a new world and new rules and new mythology. Mythology is kind of my thing.” Stephanie’s Twilight books have been translated into 49 different languages and have sold over 160M copies worldwide. The books led to five hit movies that made Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson rich, famous and miserable.

More performers have been added to the VMA lineup. Ariana Grande will join Lady Gaga to perform their number one song “Rain on Me.” This is a huge year for both ladies, who both lead the nominations with nine each. Seven of those nominations are for “Rain on Me,” including the big one — Video of the Year. It was also announced earlier this week that Miley Cyrus will perform her new single, “Midnight Sky.” So far, she is the only performer who isn’t nominated for a VMA. And don’t forget, BTS give their first televised performance of their first English single, “Dynamite.” You can vote for all your favorites online through this Sunday, Aug. 23. The awards will be handed out the following Sunday, Aug. 30. Take care of that at vma.mtv.com.

Ten-minute shows on Quibi don’t seem to be catching on, but would you be interested in a 5-minute show on Instagram? At least, that’s how long the first episode of “Breaking Ground with Dylan & Barbara” lasted. Dylan Sprouse and his longtime girlfriend, Victoria’s Secret model Barbara Palvin, are apparently hot, bored, and itching to get out of LA. So they’re producing and starring in their own Instagram series, which will follow the two of them building a cabin on a patch of land they bought somewhere in the mountains. Episode one dropped yesterday, and you can find it on either of their Instagrams — @realbarbarapalvin or @dylansprouse.

The current terms of Britney Spears’ conservatorship come to an end this Saturday. Will the conservatorship be extended? Or will the #FreeBritney movement finally get what they want and see her 12-year conservatorship come to an end? A hearing on the matter will be held today, but here’s the thing…Britney doesn’t want the conservatorship to end, so y’all need to back off! Us Weekly saw the court papers filed by her attorneys yesterday, and Britney isn’t asking to be freed. She IS, however, “strongly opposed” to her father Jamie resuming his role as her care manager, and she “strongly prefers” that his temporary replacement Jodi Montgomery be made permanent. Britney also doesn’t want her dad controlling her finances any more, so she will ask the judge to replace him with “a qualified corporate fiduciary.” And I hate to break it to everybody, the paperwork filed yesterday shows that Britney has no desire to perform at this time, so we just have to keep watching her on Instagram.
