Cardi B & Nicki Minaj Get Into Fight

Weekend box office news… CEO of CBS was forced to resign… Serena Williams is being fined $17K… Mac Miller passed away… and Cardi B & Nicki Minaj get into a fight

“The Nun” came in first this weekend with $53.5 million — the biggest opening for any of the movies in the “Conjuring” franchise. Coming in second was “Crazy Rich Asians,” adding another $13.6 million in ticket sales. It just barely beat out Jennifer Garner’s new movie “Peppermint,” which took third with $13.3 million.

Les Moonves says it’s not true and that he’s “deeply saddened” that he’s being forced to resign as CEO of CBS, but after a second scathing expose by Ronan Farrow appeared in the New Yorker with six more women coming forward to accuse Les of vile and untoward behavior, he is out. CBS says Les will not be receiving any severance benefits “at this time,” and that Les and CBS will donate $20 million to organizations supporting the #MeToo movement and equality for women in the workplace. Don’t think Les is doing that voluntarily, either! That money is coming out of any severance benefits he may be getting in the future, depending on how their investigation turns out.

Serena Williams is being fined $17K for 3 separate code violations during the US Open final, which she ended up losing to Naomi Osaka. She’s getting slapped with a $4000 fine for a coaching violation — even though she says she wasn’t being coached, her coach admitted he was sending her signals, even though she may not have seen them. Then she got fined $3000 for smashing her racquet in frustration. And she got hit with a $10K fine for verbally abusing the umpire. It’s not like it will hurt her financially. They’re taking it out of her $1.85 million in tournament winnings.

Mac Miller passed away on Friday at the age of 26. His autopsy has already been performed, but it will probably take weeks for the toxicology reports to come back. Police sources told TMZ that it looked like someone had swept the house clean before calling 911. Only a small trace of a white powder was discovered. Drake dedicated his concert in Boston on Saturday night to Mac. It was actually a very emotional night for Drake. He also officially ended his beef with Meek Mill by inviting him up on stage to perform his song “Dreams and Nightmares.” These two have been going at it for about three years. It started with Meek accusing Drake of using ghostwriters, and then Drake clapping back with a couple of diss tracks. But when Meek went to prison, Drake was one of the many supporting his release, which made things all good as far as Meek was concerned. And now with Drake bringing him onstage, the feud is officially over. After the show, Drake shared his feelings on Instagram, saying, “This really gave me peace of mind tonight. Healing and moving forward created one of the most electric and gratifying moments of my career. @meekmill I’m happy that you are home and that we could find our way back to our joint purpose.”

Things got ugly at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party, where Cardi B decided it was the right time to confront Nicki Minaj about some things she’d been saying about Cardi’s parenting skills. When Cardi tried to approach Nicki, one of her bodyguards elbowed her in the forehead, which led Cardi to pull off her shoe and chunk it at Nicki. She missed. Cardi was escorted out of the building, with one bare foot and a huge goose egg on her eyebrow, but she looked absolutely REGAL walking out of there with her head held high. She told police that she didn’t want to press charges against the guy who elbowed her. Nicki seemed to be unfazed by the whole thing. She and her bodyguards waltzed through the crowd before settling on a couch to watch Christina Aguilera perform. Nicki also told police that she doesn’t wish to press charges, either.
