Celebrities Forced To Evacuate Homes Due To Wildfires

Weekend box office news… Chip and Joanna Gaines’ announcement… Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra get their license… The People’s Choice Awards… and Celebrities forced to evacuate homes

Let’s be honest. It’s been a rough year. And people are REALLY ready to get into the Christmas spirit. That sense of urgency probably helped push “The Grinch” to the top of the box office this weekend. It opened in first with $66 million. In case you’re wondering who some of the celebrity voices are — Benedict Cumberbatch is the voice of the Grinch and Pharrell Williams is the narrator. Coming in second was “Bohemian Rhapsody” with $30.9 million, followed by the new “Overlord” in third with $10.1 million. Despite less-than-enthusiastic reviews, people still really want it to be Christmas already, which is what helped “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” place fourth with $9.6 million. The real stinker of the weekend was “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” which opened in fifth with only $8 million.

Chip and Joanna Gaines announced they were wrapping up “Fixer Upper” after five seasons, but they went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to announce they’re coming back in a big way. Chip said they signed a non-disclosure but that he could tell his mother, so he told “her” that she was going to get to see the kids grow up on TV but with a six-month delay like the rest of the world. Discovery revealed that they are the ones helping Chip and Joanna develop their own network. Their statement said, “The Gaines are exceptional people, true authentic storytellers and creative visionaries who will nourish millions of people with quality, family-friendly programming accessible on a 24/7 network and across all screens. Stay tuned…working out the final details…more to come soon!”

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra quietly slipped into the Beverly Hills Courthouse last week to get their marriage license. The Blast is reporting that the couple plans on taking the license with them to India for their wedding next month, and that they’ll eventually file the license in the US to make the marriage official in both countries.

The People’s Choice Awards have a new home on E! In case you missed it last night, Nicki Minaj opened the show with Tyga, performing “Dip” live for the first time. Nicki also took home the People’s Choice for Female Artist and Album of the Year for “Queen.” Nicki used her acceptance speech to take her best shot! She said, “Shout-out to Donatella Versace for custom making this outfit for me. And shout-out to Michael B. Jordan because he’s going to be taking it off of me tonight.” Shawn Mendes won Favorite Male Artist and BTS won Favorite Group, with their song “Idol” taking Top Song and Music Video. “Avengers: Infinity War” took Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie and Favorite Female Movie Star for Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. Chadwick Boseman won Favorite Male Movie Star and Danai Gurira won Favorite Action Movie Star for their roles in “Black Panther.” When the Kardashians won for Favorite Reality Show, they dedicated it to all the firefighters, law enforcement and first responders who’ve been helping during the California wildfires.

A number of celebrities have been forced to evacuate as the fires move closer and closer. Several celebrities have gone on social media to share that they’ve lost their homes, including Gerard Butler, Robin Thicke, Camille Grammer, Neil Young, and Miley Cyrus, who tweeted yesterday, “I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE made it out safely & that’s all that matters right now. My house no longer stands but the memories shared with family & friends stand strong.”
