Chris Brown’s Confrontation

Box office weekend… Khloe Kardashian son’s name… 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards… Matt Healy joins The Eras Tour… and Chris Brown involved in another confrontation

Listen to “Showbiz – May 8, 2023” on Spreaker.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” opened with $114M here in the US and $282M globally. That bumped “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” down to second with another $18.6M in its fifth weekend. That movie has earned $518.1M in the US so far, and over $1.1B globally. Coming in third was “Evil Dead Rise” with $5.7M, followed by “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” with $3.4 million and the new movie “Love Again” with only $2.4M.

It only took 10 months, but we finally know the name of Khloe Kardashian’s son with Tristan Thompson….maybe. Khloe hasn’t confirmed it, but The US Sun claims his name is Tatum Robert. Last month, Khloe said her son’s name starts with a “T,” so there’s that. The US Sun’s source also said that Kris Jenner was nudging Khloe to name the baby Robert after Khloe’s late father Robert Kardashian and brother Rob, but Khloe decided to make that the middle name.

Despite the Writers Guild strike, MTV decided the show must go on! It just looked a whole lot different. In solidarity with striking writers, Drew Barrymore stepped down as host of the MTV Movie & TV Awards, and then Lala Kent dropped out as a presenter. MTV saw the writing on the wall, so they decided to air the show with no host, no presenters, no audience and no theater! Instead, an announcer simply listed off the names of nominees and winners. Some winners gave pre-taped acceptance speeches, including Tom Cruise, who accepted his award for Best Performance in a Movie while flying a fighter jet! Other winners included “Scream 6” for Best Movie and “The Last of Us” for Best Show. Jenna Ortega won Best Performance in a Show for “Wednesday.” Pedro Pascal won Best Hero for his role in “The Last of Us” while Elizabeth Olsen won Best Villain for her role in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Best Song went to Taylor Swift’s “Carolina” from “Where the Crawdads Sing.” Best Docu-Reality Series winner was “The Kardashians” and Best Competition Series was “RuPauls’ Drag Race: All Stars.” And what many consider to be the biggest award of the night, Madison Bailey and Rudy Pankow from “Outer Banks” won Best Kiss.

Rumors started last week that Taylor Swift quickly moved on from Joe Alwyn with Matt Healey from The 1975 and they would announce their love at her Nashville concert this weekend. Sure enough, Matt was there in the VIP tent bopping along with Gigi Hadid Saturday night! The “DailyMail” also snapped pictures of Taylor and Matt in the back seat of a chauffeured SUV heading to her Nashville condo about 12:30am.

Chris Brown was celebrating his 34th birthday party at a skating rink in Las Vegas Friday night when things took an ugly turn. According to Love B. Scott, Chris got angry when he saw Teyana Taylor at his party and he wanted her to leave. Apparently, Chris blames her for his Michael Jackson tribute at the American Music Awards being canceled. Teyana was supposed to be part of it, but she backed out at the last minute and then the whole thing was scrapped. When Chris went up to Teyana, she tried to ignore him, which only made things worse. Usher reportedly saw what was happening and went over to intervene, and that’s when they took it outside. They went behind a group of charter buses so nobody could see what happened, but one source says Chris and his crew jumped Usher, who ended up with a bloody nose and bruised ribs! Neither Chris nor Usher has spoken about this publicly.
