Did Lizzo Steal Those Lyrics?

Hallmark Christmas countdown… Man arrested for Mac Miller death… Meghan Markle has a collection… Kelly Clarkson’s first guest… and Did Lizzo steal those lyrics?

Last year, the Hallmark gave us a record 36 brand new Christmas movies and their official Countdown to Christmas started on Oct. 27. But this year, Hallmark is hitting us with a new record … FORTY new Christmas movies! And the Countdown to Christmas starts a whole 2 days earlier on Oct. 25! The movies will be split up between the Hallmark Channel and their sister network, Hallmark Movie & Mysteries. So we get to see lots and lots of our Hallmark favorites, like Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Lacey Chabert. And there are some new faces, too, like Priscilla Presley and Dolly Parton!

Mac Miller passed away on Sept. 8 of last year after taking some counterfeit oxycodone that had been laced with fentanyl. And now police have arrested the man who sold him those drugs two days before he died. Officials say 23-year-old Cameron James Pettit sold Mac cocaine, Xanax, and what Mac thought was legit oxycodone. Authorities believe Mac snorted that fentanyl-laced oxycodone, which led to his death. Pettit faces up to 20 years in prison.

One week from today, Meghan Markle is officially ending her Royal maternity leave! Little Archie is now 4-months old and even though Meghan has been popping up at fun stuff like her son’s christening, the Queen’s birthday, a Wimbledon tennis match, that Yankees-Red Sox game in London, and a polo match, this is her first official appearance back after baby. On Sept. 12, Meghan will help launch the capsule collection of women’s workwear that she created with her designer friend Misha Nonoo. The clothing line benefits Smart Works, a charity that helps unemployed women find jobs and gives them a professional outfit for their job interviews. For every item purchased from Meghan’s collection, one will be donated to Smart Works. The collection includes a pair of dress pants, a blazer, a shirt, a dress and a handbag, and it will only be sold for two weeks.

Kelly Clarkson’s new talk show debuts Monday and her first guest was supposed to be Kevin Hart and the interview was going to be taped yesterday. Because of his terrible car accident, that obviously wasn’t happening, so Dwayne Johnson to the rescue! Dwayne actually left his HONEYMOON to step in at the last minute. And even though Kelly said his wife probably hated her for that, Dwayne tweeted, “I did leave my honeymoon early (Lauren approved cos she LOVES Kelly) and now me and Kelly are new best friends.”

Lizzo is being accused of stealing the opening line of her #1 song “Truth Hurts.” A singer named MinaLioness says she tweeted, “I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100% that b****” back in February of 2017. She says she was inspired by Demi Lovato’s tweet about taking a DNA test and finding out she was 1% African. Lizzo’s song came out in September of that same year and when MinaLioness finally heard it, she tweeted at Lizzo So when she heard Lizzo’s song later that same year, MinaLioness tweeted directly at her, “Now everyone believes those were your words, when in fact they were mine. My creativity, my wit and my comedy.” But Lizzo responded that she’d never seen MinaLioness’ tweet, but she did see a meme with that line and that’s what inspired her to write the song. MinaLioness believes she should get a songwriting credit. And now that Lizzo has filed to trademark that line, MinaLioness is even more upset about the fact that she’s not only not getting credit, she’s not getting PAID. She posted on Twitter that she can’t afford to take this to court, but hopes Lizzo will ultimately do the right thing. She wrote, “What I cannot get over is how brazen Lizzo and her team have been in ignoring my whole presence. They’re doing it because they know I have no capital to address her. I’m just the poor Black girl from London that don’t have a dog in the fight.”
