Box office weekend… Duran Duran announcement… Jon Bon Jovi news… Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck update… and Diddy made an apology video

John Krasinski’s imaginary friends movie IF won the box office battle this weekend. It took in about $35M, which was a little bit lower than expected. IF reportedly cost $110M just to produce, but it should make that back. Last June, Pixar’s Elemental was considered DOA when opened with just $29.5M. But over the summer, parents kept dragging their kids to the ice cold theater and Elemental ended up earning $500M globally. So even though IF only has 49% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, parents DO NOT CARE. They will sit through it for AC and a bucket of popcorn with extra butter. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes was second with $26M. In just 10 days of release, those creepy apes surpassed $100M domestically and $237M globally. The Strangers— Chapter 1 was super low-budget, costing only $8.5M to produce. Despite Rotten Tomatoes’ critics giving it only 13% positive reviews, it debuted with $12.3M, so it’s already paid for itself. Fall Guy was fourth with $8.5M, followed by Challengers and Back to Black tied for fifth with $2.9M each. Next weekend is Memorial Day weekend — the unofficial kickoff to summer but the official kickoff for the summer box office season. And the party starts with the debuts of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and The Garfield Movie.

Duran Duran have announced they’re re-issuing their first five studio albums, which have been out of print forever. Duran Duran, Rio, Seven and the Ragged Tiger, Notorious and Big Thing are available now for pre-order, in both the original vinyl and on CD. I found them on Amazon for $23.99 each. They’ll all drop on July 19. All five will feature the latest album remasters, with the vinyl editions cut at the infamous Abbey Road Studios. And the album artworks have been closely restored to the original sleeve designs, overseen by Malcom Garrett, the designer behind Duran Duran’s first three albums.

Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny may be giving their love another shot. These two crazy kids dated for about a year before breaking up in December. Even though they arrived separately, the two of them reportedly got real cozy inside the Met Gala a couple week ago and the following day, they were spotted leaving the same hotel. And this past Friday night, Kendall was spotted in the crowd at Bad Bunny’s concert in Orlando.

Rumors of their breakup were getting too loud to ignore, so Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck decided to give the paparazzi a show. Ben and Jen showed up to support Jen’s daughter Emme at some event inside a movie theater. Jennifer arrived with her twins and Ben showed up separately. Ben’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner also showed up with their kid Fin, who is very close to Emme. Afterward, Ben and Jen left the event together — flashing their wedding rings and smiles for the paparazzi. Interesting to note, while Ben was driving away, he was holding his cell phone in his hand, and it showed that his wife was calling him. And by the way, she’s listed in his phone as Jennifer Affleck. Anyway, they grabbed dinner together and BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood, but we’re not sure if that’s where they parted ways. Ben reportedly has been staying in a $100K/month rental in Brentwood while Jennifer has been sleeping in the comfy $60M Beverly Hills mansion they bought together.

Back in November, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie sued him for $30M, accusing him of many horrible acts, including beating her in a hotel hallway back in March of 2016. Diddy settled with her the next day. Perhaps it’s because he knew there was a video out proving that what Cassie accused him of was true. In her lawsuit, Cassie claimed Diddy paid the hotel $50K for the security footage, but CNN somehow got ahold of it and released it on Friday. There is no audio, but in the video, you can see Cassie walking down the hallway with a suitcase, apparently trying to escape. But moments later, Diddy — wrapped in nothing but a towel and wearing his tennis shoes — catches Cassie before she makes it onto the elevator, throws her to the ground, kicks her and then drags her by her sweatshirt, before throwing a vase at her. It took a couple days, but Diddy finally released a video apologizing for what happened. Diddy said, in part, “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was (BLANKED) up. I mean, I hit rock bottom, but I make no excuses…My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted.” Diddy said he went to therapy and rehab and asked God for mercy and grace. But what does he mean by “I take full responsibility”?? Because up until that video, Diddy took ZERO responsibility and said Cassie and other accusers were lying on him. And unfortunately, Diddy can’t be arrested for what he did to Cassie because of the statute of limitations.
