Changes at the Oscars… Denise Richards joins RHOBH… Carrie Underwood’s big announcement… A Carpool Karaoke injury… and Ellen & Portia are opening their home to Demi

No matter who they throw on to host, ratings keep going down for the Academy Awards. So the Academy is shaking things up a little bit. The broadcast will be moved up about a month earlier starting in 2020. In fact, they already picked the date — February 9. They’re also adding a new “Popular Film” category. This is the first time in 17 years a new award category has been announced. Best Animated Feature wasn’t added until 2001. But this new “Popular Film” category has infuriated a lot of people, who say it’s basically a consolation prize for movies that audiences loved but isn’t worthy of being nominated for Best Picture. Those critics are talking specifically about “Black Panther.”

After a pretty lackluster season, they’re bringing in some new blood to the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Denise Richards is excited to announce that she’s signed on to the show and is hoping she gets to meet Boy George. He’s close friends with her now fellow Housewife, Dorit Kemsley. Bravo producers have been courting Denise to do the show for years, but apparently the timing wasn’t right until now……..right after Charlie Sheen asked a judge to lower his child support payments.

Carrie Underwood posted a video for her fans yesterday, announcing that her “Cry Pretty” tour will kick off in May. She then said, “You might be wondering, or asking, ‘Carrie, why is your tour starting in May?’” And then the camera pulls back and Carrie’s sitting under balloons spelling out the word “BABY.” She said she and her husband Mike Fisher are “excited to be adding another little fish to our pond.” Their son Isaiah is now 3.

Get ready for what should be a super fun episode of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke.” Ariana Grande announced that her episode will air on Wednesday, August 15. And maybe we’ll find out how she injured her hand doing it. She posted a photo of her left hand all bandaged with gauze and captioned it, “Bleeding n smiling” and then “Hahahahahaha I’m an idiot.” Speaking of “Carpool Karaoke,” when Kris Jenner, when she was a guest on his show, she asked James why he hasn’t had Kanye do it. He said, “We’ve tried. He’s canceled, twice. Maybe even three times. He canceled once as I was turning the corner to his house. I was outside his house and they were like, ‘He’s not in the zone for it right now. We’ll do it another time.’” And then he said Kanye tried to make up for it by sending him these flowers in a gigantic cube and a pair of Yeezys. He said, “People were like, ‘Whoa, they’re so expensive.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah! They cost my show $45,000!’”

According to OK! Magazine, when Demi Lovato gets out of rehab, she has a soft place to land. Their source says Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have offered to let Demi stay with them. “Ellen told Demi that their beach house (in Santa Barbara) is hers whenever she wants it…They’ve also extended an invitation for her to stay at their L.A. place.” The source says that both Ellen and Portia are determined to help Demi recover and that Portia wants to introduce her to equestrian therapy.
