Eminem Criticized After ‘Gunshot’ Sound Effects

Weekend box office news… Olivia Culpo & Danny Amendola back together… Vince Vaughn was arrested for DUI… Demi Lovato cancels show… and Eminem criticized after ‘gunshot’ sound effects

The ladies did it! “Ocean’s 8” was number one at the box office this weekend, taking in $41.5 million. And get this — that’s better than all three of George Clooney’s “Ocean” movies’ opening weekends. “Solo: A Star Wars Story” dropped to second with $15.2 million. Coming in third was “Deadpool 2” with $13.7 million, followed closely by the brand new “Hereditary” with $13 million. And rounding out the top five was “Avengers: Infinity War” with $6.8 million.

Sometimes you gotta break up to make up, and it looks like that’s what happened with Olivia Culpo and Dolphins wide receiver Danny Amendola. They broke up back in March and Olivia immediately went on her “Look how hot and happy I am without you!” Instagram campaign, which apparently worked. Danny was in a friend’s wedding in Houston over the weekend and Olivia was his date. Sources say they were overtly affectionate with each other.

Vince Vaughn got popped for DUI early Sunday morning. He and his buddy were driving through Manhattan Beach, CA, around 1am when they came up on a police checkpoint. Reportedly, Vince and his friend refused to get out of the car and things went downhill from there. Vince was arrested for DUI and his buddy for public intoxication. Both were charged with resisting and obstructing arrest. Both were released around 7am after posting $5000 bail.

Demi Lovato was too sick to perform last night at the O2 Arena in London, but the decision was made just 45 minutes before she was to take the stage! Fans were seen sobbing as they filed out into the streets. Demi posted a note on her Instagram “through tears of frustration and sadness,” but explained that the decision to cancel was made after she was examined by an ENT. She said, “If I go on tonight and injure my vocal chords anymore I could potentially have to cancel the rest of my tour. I’m so so so sorry to disappoint any of my fans in London that have traveled hours to be here by plane or car, and to all of the fans that got these tickets for their birthday, holiday or any other special occasion. It just breaks my heart to let you down. Just know I feel your frustration and I wouldn’t do this unless I absolutely had to.” Demi has already rescheduled last night’s show for June 25.

Eminem is getting slammed for using realistic gunfire sound effects during his performance of “Kill You” at Bonnaroo Saturday night. Fans started screaming and ducking for cover as they heard a couple of gunshots, thinking this may be a repeat of what happened at that country music festival in Las Vegas last year. While many are criticizing Eminem for being cruel and insensitive, a lot of people are also sticking up for him. One fan tweeted, “Eminem has ended Kill You with the gun shot effects for (at least) 6 years now and this is the first time someone ever complains.” And Eminem’s rep had this to say: “Contrary to inaccurate reports, Eminem does not use gunshot sound effects during his live show.” He said it was a “pyrotechnic concussion which creates a loud boom.” Now THAT, he says, Eminem has used in his live show for over 10 years without receiving any complaints.
