Kevin Spacey is “refusing to leave”… Movie news… Usher postpones tour… Katy Perry getting MTV Vanguard Award… and Five arrests made in death of actor Matthew Perry

Kevin Spacey is squatting in Baltimore! The guy who bought Kevin’s waterfront mansion at a foreclosure auction says Kevin is refusing to leave! Kevin bought this 9000-sq-ft property once known as “Baltimore’s most extraordinary home” back in 2017 for $5.65M. Sam Asgari — not Britney Spears’ ex-husband — is a real estate investor who bought Kevin’s estate for $3.4M — which was a steal! Sam says for the last 3 weeks, he’s been trying to take possession of the home, but Kevin won’t budge. Kevin reportedly is asking to stay in the house for another 6 months, rent-free. Apparently, he’s just working the system, staying as long as he can until the court approves the sale and Sam goes through the process of forcing an eviction with help from the local Sheriff.

In movie news, Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 will begin streaming exclusively on Max next Friday, Aug. 23. While the original plan was to release Chapter 2 in theaters today — which would’ve been two months after Chapter 1’s release — the decision was made to give the audience more time to see the first one. Now the plan is to screen Chapter 2 at the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 7, after Chapter 1 plays there earlier that same day. Whoever commits to that will be spending SIX HOURS in the theater! In other movie news, Deadline reports that Nicolas Cage will be playing John Madden in a movie that covers the origin story of the wildly successful Madden NFL video game. Will Farrell and Hugh Jackman had been rumored to play Madden, but it’s all Nic’s now! The film will be directed by David O. Russell, whose also gave us Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

Usher is in the middle of his Past Present Future tour, which is set to run through May of next year. But after canceling his first of 3 shows in his hometown of Atlanta, Usher is now rescheduled all 3 for December. He explained on his Instagram yesterday, “Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck while rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest Usher show of all time. My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night. Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week. The good news is that the doctors are saying that with appropriate rest and treatment, I should be ready to commence the tour in Washington DC on August 20th.”

This year’s MTV VMAs were originally set for Sept. 10, but they decided to bump it to Sept. 11 so they won’t go up against the first presidential debate. And it was just announced that the recipient of this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award will be Katy Perry, who needs a little extra love right now! It’s been 16 years since Katy had her first huge hit with I Kissed a Girl. She’s won 5 VMAs over the years, but hasn’t been at the awards ceremony since 2017, when she hosted and performed. The VMAs will air 9 days before Katy releases her new album 143 on Sept. 20.

Matthew Perry passed away from a ketamine overdose on Oct. 28. After months of hearing nothing, authorities have announced 5 arrests in the case. Dr. Salvador Plasencia is an urgent care physician in Calabasas who texted Dr. Mark Chaves about buying some ketamine to sell to “M.P.” writing, “I wonder how much this moron will pay….Lets find out.” These two provided Matthew with 20 vials of ketamine in the month leading up to his death, charging $55K in cash. One of Matthew’s acquaintances Erik Fleming was arrested for reaching out to the “Ketamine Queen” Jasveen Sangha, who sold him about 50 vials of ketamine over a 2 week period for around $11K. And finally, Matthew’s longtime assistant, 59-year-old Kenneth Iwamasa, was arrested. He reportedly injected Matthew with at least 3 shots of ketamine on the day he died.
