Listen to “Showbiz – Apr 19, 2023” on Spreaker.
It’s hard to believe it’s been four months since Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during a game. Damar had gone into cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated right there on the field. But yesterday, the Bills’ GM said Damar has been cleared by three specialists who all agree that he can resume playing without any fear of setbacks or complications. In fact, Damar is already attending the team’s voluntary workout program.

George Michael is building up a pretty big lead in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Fan Vote. Right now, he’s first with over 884K votes. Cyndi Lauper is second with over 807K. But there’s a big drop in votes for the rest of the nominees. Right now Warren Zevon is in third place, closing in on 560K votes. If you don’t recognize his name, you probably recognize his biggest hit, “Werewolves of London.” Iron Maiden is fourth with 395K and Soundgarden rounds out the top five with 373K. So if you care enough to keep these five at the top, or if you want to see artists like Willie Nelson, Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow or Rage Against the Machine make in into the top five, you can vote for your five favorites once per day through April 28 at Vote.RockHall.com. Winning the Fan Vote doesn’t necessarily mean they will automatically be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Instead, the top five artists will be listed on a ‘Fan Ballot’ that gets counted along with thousands of other official ballots. The official 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class will be announced in May.

Five months after he passed away, the medical examiner has determined that Aaron Carter drowned in his bathtub after huffing and taking a generic form of Xanax. But Aaron’s former fiancée Melanie Martin told TMZ that she doesn’t accept this at face value. Melanie said, “He was wearing a T-shirt and necklace in the bathtub which doesn’t make sense. Why would he be in a bathtub with clothes on? I don’t understand the chain of events.”

Bad Bunny was the first Latino to headline Coachella, but rather than being celebrated for that, he’s getting slammed for seemingly taking a swipe at Harry Styles at the end of his performance. Mr. Bunny was performing “El Apagón” in front of a giant screen when a tweet appeared that said, “goodnight benito could do as it was but harry could never do el apagon.” Mr. Bunny didn’t comment, but his rep told “Rolling Stone” that Mr. Bunny didn’t approve the tweet, and the visual content company responsible for this giant display screen backed him up on that. In response to the online uproar, the company released a statement saying, “Our intention is to create light hearted designs that embody Bad Bunny’s personality and amplify the experience he presents as a performer. The request from the artist during the visuals for ‘El Apagón’ performance was to use the image only and not text from the tweet, which we take responsibility for and correct it for Friday’s performance. These visuals are a celebration of Bad Bunny and his dedication to empowering his native island, Puerto Rico.”
According to his team, Bad Bunny did not approve the apparent on-screen diss to Harry Styles during his headlining set at #Coachella. https://t.co/X9IDj78Iuj

Frank Ocean has been getting a ton of backlash for his headlining performance Sunday night at Coachella. Not only did he change the stage design at the last minute, he showed up about an hour late for his show. It had been six years since Frank last performed, so the crowd was expecting to be blown away. Instead, Frank really didn’t sing that much. And when he actually bothered to be on stage, he mostly lip-synched. Towards the end of his set, he debuted a new song while standing offstage the entire time. And then after about an hour, Frank announced the show was over because of curfew and left. However, a lot of his fans thought Frank was conducting some sort of social experiment to see how many of his true fans would stick around. He never came back. Amid all the criticism, one person is sticking up for Frank. Justin Bieber shared a post on Instagram and captioned it, “I was blown away by Frank Ocean’s Coachella performance. His artistry is simply unmatched, his style, his taste, his voice, his attention to detail.. I was deeply moved.” And now after getting so much backlash, we’re getting a little more backstory. TMZ learned that Frank suffered an ankle injury during on-site rehearsals the week before Coachella. Following doctors’ advice, they ended up making a lot of production changes which included getting rid of the ice rink that had been built specifically for Frank’s performance. So maybe he was upset about losing his ice rink. Maybe his ankle hurt. Maybe he was heavily medicated to get through the show. We just don’t know, and Frank hasn’t said a word about it. Now we have to wait till this Sunday to see if Frank makes any adjustments for his next headlining performance.
EXCLUSIVE: A source close to the situation tells Rolling Stone that an ankle injury caused Frank Ocean’s #COACHELLA set to be adjusted.
