Weekend box office news… Jamie Lee Curtis’ announcement… Marvel lineup… Keanu Reeves loves his fans… … and G-Eazy says Sweden treated him better than ASAP Rocky

“The Lion King” was expected to earn somewhere between $150M and $175M on its opening weekend. It did WAY better than expectations, earning $185M at the North American box office. That makes “The Lion King” the ninth-biggest opening movie of all time. Coming in second was “Spider-Man: Far From Home” with $21M, and “Toy Story 4” was third with $14.6M. In other box office news, this weekend, “Avengers: Endgame” passed “Avatar” to become the highest grossing movie of all time worldwide. “Endgame” has earned $2.79B globally; “Avatar” earned $2.789B, and it was made ten years ago!

In more movie news, Jamie Lee Curtis says there will be TWO more “Halloween” movies! She posted a little video teaser on her Instagram and captioned it, “‘It ain’t over till the fat lady sings.’ Well, my friends and fans….I’m just WARMING UP 🔥🔪 Happy Halloween 🎃2020/2021 @halloweenmovie #halloweenkills #halloweenends” Universal confirmed that “Halloween Kills” will come out on October 16, 2020, and “Halloween Ends” will be released on October 15, 2021. And yes, Jamie Lee Curtis is back as Laurie Strode for both installments.

LOTS of excitement at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend. Marvel announced their lineup for the next several years. No new “Avengers” movies were announced, but we found out that “Black Widow” is coming out May, 1, 2020, starring Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz. On November 6, 2020, we get “The Eternals” starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, and Salma Hayek. And in 2021, Natalie Portman will play female Thor in “Thor: Love and Thunder.” On May 7, 2021, Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen star in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Also, Mahershala Ali was announced as the new Blade. No release date was announced.

Keanu Reeves has been named “The Internet’s Boyfriend” this summer and the internet is loving what he did for one of his fans. Keanu is filming the third “Bill and Ted” movie in Slidell, Louisiana, and a woman named Stacey Hunt wanted to welcome him to town. She and her son wrote “You’re Breathtaking” on a yard sign. Keanu said that to the audience at a gaming conference last month. A few hours after Stacey put up her sign, a car pulled up and a few people got out…..including Keanu! He and Stacey visited for a few minutes and took some pictures. Then Keanu signed the yard sign, “Stacey, you’re breathtaking!”

Last year, G-Eazy was arrested in Sweden for punching a security guard, possessing illegals drugs and using narcotics. (He was caught snorting cocaine with a $100 bill.) He sat in jail for a day and a half, pleaded guilty to some charges, and he was sentenced to $10K and probation. Plus, he had to pay the security guard $900. Done. So why is A$AP Rocky still sitting in a Stockholm prison for almost 3 weeks for defending himself in a fight? G-Eazy said on his Instagram, “Facts. This is the sad truth…The difference between me and Rocky’s treatment …. white privilege and systemic racism. Let’s call it what it is. He should not be behind bars right now…” But sources say A$AP isn’t even hinting that he’s being treated unfairly because of his race because he thinks it will make things worse for him in court. But according to sources, it looks like he is going to be charged with aggravated assault and could face up to 6 years in prison.
