“American Idol” returns?… Celebrities at SXSW… Jennifer Lopez’s timing… Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney update… and George Clooney and wife Amal expecting twins
Remember back in April when Ryan Seacrest signed off the series finale for “American Idol” with a cryptic, “Goodbye…..for now”? Variety is reporting that NBC is talking about bringing the show back on their network and cutting back “The Voice” from two seasons per year to just one. But does NBC REALLY need another talent competition show? They also have “America’s Got Talent” and the upcoming Jennifer Lopez project, “World of Dance.”
SXSW runs March 10-19. In addition to all the celebrities who will be pouring into Austin, there will be a ton of activists and politicians who I THINK will be talking a lot about how much they hate Donald Trump. Among the featured speakers are “Empire” creator Lee Daniels, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kesha and Sammy Hagar, just to name a few. But if you want to get your blood boiling, head over to the speeches given by the presidents of Planned Parenthood and GLAAD and by Senator Cory Booker, who many are hoping will run for president next go ‘round.
Whatever Jennifer Lopez did or didn’t have going on with Drake has apparently fizzled out. A source told Entertainment Tonight that it basically boiled down to their busy schedules. In fact, Jennifer may have eluded to the demise of their whatever-it-was on Instagram this past weekend when she posted, “Timing is everything. If it’s meant to happen it will, and for the right reasons.”
Some of us — and I mean me — got our hopes up that Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are back together and they spent the week before the Super Bowl together in Houston and they’re just waiting for the right time to let us know their engagement is back on. Oh well…..It turns out that wasn’t Taylor she was hanging out with in Houston. It was her agent Christian Carino. And unless something has changed, that means Taylor is still with that radiology nurse from Philly named Alanna DiGiovanni.
George Clooney is doing everything he said he’d never do. After his first failed marriage in the early 90s, George swore he’d never marry again. Along comes Amal Alamuddin and they were married in 2014. But George also said kids weren’t in the cards for him. In fact, he flat out said, “I don’t have that gene that people have to replicate.” But now George and Amal are expecting twins and, apparently, she’s pretty far along. Matt Damon says he found out about it back in the fall when George said Amal was just 8 weeks along. Also yesterday, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley announced that she and her fiancé Jason Statham are expecting. And if you remember Whitney Port from “The Hills,” she also announced yesterday that she’s pregnant with an Instagram post, “Just standing by the window in my underwear, with a BABY in my belly!!!” She and Tim Rosenman just celebrated their first wedding anniversary back in November.
