Weekend box office news… Kanye’s Star Wars homes… Kelly Clarkson offers advice… Camila Cabello & Shawn Mendes dating and J.Lo announces makeup date after NYC outage
For a second weekend, “Spider-man: Far From Home” was number one at the box office, earning another $45.3 million. After four weeks in theaters, “Toy Story 4” came in second with $20.7 million. The new movie “Crawl” debuted in third with just $13.5 million, followed by another new one, “Stuber.” That earned a very sad $8 million. “Yesterday” rounded out the top five with $6.8 million.
About a year ago, Kanye West tweeted that he was starting a Yeezy architecture arm called Yeezy Home and said he was “looking for architects and interior designers who want to make the world better.” And now, Kanye tells Forbes that he’s creating homes for the homeless! Kanye was inspired by Luke Sykywalker’s desert home in “Star Wars” and wants to build cave-like, prefabricated structures that will be insulated from both hot and cold climates. He actually showed a Forbes writer some prototypes built in the 300 acres of wooded land he purchased with Charlamagne Tha God. Kanye told Forbes, “I’m going to be one of the biggest real estate developers of all time—what Howard Hughes was to air crafts and what Henry Ford was to cars…We gonna develop cities.”
It’s been two weeks since Taylor Swift unleashed her wrath on Scooter Braun, who dropped $300 million to buy her old music label and the masters to all the music she recorded with them. Well, Kelly Clarkson has an idea. She tweeted, “@taylorswift13 just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions. I’d buy all the new versions just to prove a point 💁🏼♀️.” Can she do that? Is it really that simple?
Whether it’s a publicity stunt or not, time will tell. But things seem to be heating up between Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. At his concert in Oakland Saturday night, Camila was videoed in the audience looking absolutely mesmerized by Shawn. She even had tears of her eyes because A) she was so moved by her new man’s lyrics, or B) the song reminded her of her ex, Matthew Hussey.
A huge power outage affected a huge chunk of NYC Saturday night, including Madison Square Garden, where Jennifer Lopez had just taken the stage to perform her “It’s My Party” tour. She was devastated and went on Instagram to tell her fans she would make it up to them as soon as possible, and “as soon as possible” is happening tonight! She was able to squeeze in the makeup performance tonight, ahead of her Tuesday night show in Boston. The power outage also affected the birthday party Cardi B and Offset threw for their 1-year-old Kulture. Cardi also went on IG to say that even though the lights went off and there was no music or air-conditioning, the party was still lit! After about an hour, the power came back on. The rumor is that this party cost $400K and included a Build-A-Bear workshop and $7000 worth of flowers.
