‘Days of Thunder’ sequel… The first 7 minutes of ‘SMILE 2’… Outer Banks season 5… Christmas Time by Mariah Carey… and Jason Kelce apologized
With the success of his Top Gun sequel, why WOULDN’T Tom Cruise want to do a Days of Thunder sequel? According to Deadline, Tom is in talks to reprise his role as NASCAR drive Cole Trickle from the 1990 film, which was directed by the late Tony Scott. You may remember that Tom met and fell in love with Nicole Kidman on the Days of Thunder set. It’s highly doubtful she’d be on board to return, or that Tom would even want her to. After all, he had no problem replacing Kelly McGillis with Jennifer Connelly in Top Gun: Maverick! So far, we have no plot details or any other news to report other than discussions are being had.

Smile 2 was released in theaters on Oct. 18 and was No. 2 at the box office this past weekend. But Paramount has decided to let you watch the first seven minutes of it online for free, however, you have to earn it in a kinda creepy way. First, you have to find the Paramount link for it — it’s google-able — and enter your date of birth, just to make sure you’re old enough to watch an R-rated movie. Then you’ll get a message that says, “Watch the first 7 minutes….only if you smile.” The camera on your computer will be watching you the whole time you’re watching the video. If you stop smiling, the video stops and “Keep smiling” pops up on the screen. And while the video is playing, your face will be at the bottom of the screen, like a FaceTime call. That first 7 minutes of Smile 2 must be pretty good because they’re hoping it will hook you into going to the theater to see the other 2 hours and 5 minutes.

Part 1 of the Season Four premiere of Outer Banks began streaming on October 10. Part 2 finally premieres this Thursday. And Netflix has already announced they’ve renewed their hit teen drama series for its fifth and final season. Show creators Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke got the idea for this series back in 2017, when they came across a snapshot of teenagers on a beach at dusk during a power outage. With the announcement of their Season 5 renewal, the trio released a newsletter called Dispatch to All Pogues, saying, “At the time, seven years ago, it seemed impossible that we would really get to tell the whole five season story, but here we are, at the end of our fourth season, still chopping away…Now, with a little sadness, but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us, and are turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago.”

It was Jason Kelce’s first day back at work since that unfortunate incident at the Ohio State-Penn State football game on Saturday. As Jason made his way into the stadium, fans gathered around and there was some heckling going on. One guy in a hoodie asked him how it felt to have his brother Travis dating Taylor Swift, only he called Travis a homophobic slur. Jason whipped around, grabbed the guy’s phone and smashed it to the ground. As Jason went to pick it up, the guy apparently shoved him over, causing Jason to jump up and repeat the slur back to this guy, asking him, “Who’s the (BLANK) now??” Last night, Jason was back on ESPN for Monday Night Football, and really had no choice but to address the elephant in the room right out the gate. An obviously uncomfortable Jason said, “I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it…Within a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate and I don’t think that’s a productive thing…In that moment I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have,” Jason continued. “Bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rules. That’s what I’ve always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect. I’m going to try to keep doing that moving forward.” Then Jason said this wasn’t the platform to go into more detail because there was a game to focus on. And that game was between his brother’s team the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chiefs won 32-24 in overtime, giving them a franchise record of 14 straight wins.
