“Revenge” ends after 4 seasons… Mae Whitman was replaced in “Independence Day 2”… Bono still can’t play the guitar… Calvin Harris puts the rumors to rest about Taylor Swift… and Jay Z is playing concert to promote Tidal
It’s all over but the crying! ABC has announced that after 4 seasons, it’s all over for “Revenge.” The cast and the fans are obviously devastated. Executive producer Sunil Nayer told “Entertainment Weekly,” “The show is still popular; it’s loved worldwide. I can see why all the arguments from even an economic standpoint to maybe keep it going, but at the end of the day – kind of like they had with ‘Lost’ – they support creativity above all.”
Who knew Anna Kendrick would be so passionate on the subject? But she is quite angry about the decision to recast the role of the president’s daughter Patricia Whitmore in “Independence Day 2.” Mae Whitman starred in the 1996 original. Maika Monroe takes over the role in the sequel. Anna tweeted her displeasure: “What the actual (BLANK)? @maebirdwing is talented as hell, and JUST proved she can carry a film. Smh” Anna is probably referring to Mae’s comedy “The Duff,” which also starred Bella Thorne. Mae appreciated Anna’s support, tweeting her back “Man. I love you to death kid.” Some have speculated that Mae was kicked to the curb because she doesn’t fit Hollywoods’ standard of beauty. By the way, Will Smith isn’t returning for ID2, either. But we hear Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Vivica A. Fox have all signed on. The movie is expected to hit theaters in June of next year.
It’s been more than five months since Bono had that horrific bicycle accident in Central Park and he says he still can’t bend two of his fingers and it feels like he has someone else’s hand. As a result, Bono still can’t play the guitar. Apparently, doctors told him that his nerves are healing about a millimeter a week, so he should know about 13 months from now if his feeling will ever come completely back.
There were rumors that Calvin Harris had to break up with Taylor Swift because of his severe cat allergies. Perhaps to put those rumors to rest, Calvin posted a photo on his Instagram yesterday of Taylor’s cat Olivia Benson standing on her hind legs, begging for a treat. He captioned it, “Moments.” And sources say Calvin not only adores Taylor, he adores BOTH of her cats.
Jay Z insists his Tidal streaming service is doing just fine, thank you very much. But in an attempt to gain subscribers, he’s announced he’s going to put on a concert in NYC exclusively for Tidal subscribers, but you still have to win your way in by creating your own Tidal playlists and tweeting about it. People aren’t exactly scrambling to sign up. In fact, there’s been quite a bit of backlash on social media. One person tweeted, “My gravestone will read: CAUSE OF DEATH – second-hand embarrassment from Jay-Z’s thirst for Tidal success.” Another tweeted, “Jay Z has 99 problems and Tidal is one.”
