Weekend box office news… Jennifer Lawrence stepping away from acting… Jay Z celebrates close friend’s birthday… Fergie was ROASTED… and Jennifer Aniston-Brad Pitt reunion?

According to Variety, the estimates from Monday’s box office show that “Black Panther” earned just over $235 million over the four-day holiday weekend, breaking the record for the biggest Presidents Day weekend earnings. The previous record was held by “Deadpool” with $152 million over the same weekend two years ago. “Black Panther” also holds the records for the biggest solo superhero launch, the biggest weekend of IMAX of all time, the biggest non-sequel launch of all time, and the biggest opening weekend for a movie NOT directed by a white guy! They keep records for EVERYTHING! Meantime the movie’s soundtrack, “Black Panther: The Music,” which was curated and produced by Kendrick Lamar and Anthony Tiffith, is number one on the Billboard 200.

If you’re a fan of Jennifer Lawrence movies, get ready to miss her for a minute. She told Entertainment Tonight that she’s stepping away from acting for a year to work with Represent Us, an organization dedicated to promoting anti-corruption laws within the government. She hopes “to get young people engaged politically on a local level.” She says it has nothing to do with partisan politics. She says it’s about “trying to pass state laws that can help prevent corruption (and) fix our democracy.”

Beyonce took Blue Ivy to the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, but Jay Z skipped out on the basketball because he’d rather celebrate the birthday of his close friend, president of Roc Nation Sports Juan “OG” Perez. According to Page Six, Jay took OG and a bunch of Roc Nation executives to Zuma in Midtown and picked up the dinner tab, which was $13K. Then they all headed to uptown to a club called Made in Mexico, where they dropped another $9K on drinks. A few people called in a night at that point, but Jay and a group of five then stopped by the Playroom nightclub where they ordered 40 bottles of Ace of Spades champagne. Of course, the six of them couldn’t drink all that, so Jay was handing out bottles to other tables in the club. That tab totaled over $91K and Jay left an $11K tip! And we know about this one because the server posted it on Snapchat!

Even Roseanne Barr thinks she sang the National Anthem better, but we may not go THAT far. However, after Fergie was ROASTED for her take on the National Anthem at Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game, she finally had to release this statement: “I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the National Anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.” Her ex-husband Josh Duhamel felt so bad for her, he showed up with their 4-year-old son Axl and a bouquet of flowers to cheer her up.

Fergie’s National Anthem Draws Criticism

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are communicating, but that’s it! Sources told The Blast that when Brad’s marriage to Angelina Jolie imploded, she reached out to him. So when Jennifer and Justin Theroux announced they were separating, Brad returned the favor. The sources say the conversations aren’t romantic in nature. They just still have affection for each other. It’s as simple as that. An interesting twist to the Jen and Justin breakup. Nobody can find any record that they were ever legally married. It’s looking like they just held a ceremony in their backyard and left it at that.
