Craig Melvin will replace Hoda Kotb… Joan says ‘Yes!’… Dave Coulier’s cancer diagnosis… Season 3 of ‘Euphoria’ is moving forward… and Glen Powell & Pedro Pascal were ‘begged’ to be People’s Sexiest Man Alive

In breaking news this morning, when Hoda Kotb leaves the Today show on January 10, Craig Melvin will be sliding into her still-warm seat. Savannah Guthrie was given the honor of announcing her new co-host this morning. A couple months ago, Hoda announced she’d be leaving the Today show after 26 years. She didn’t give an exact date of departure at that time, only saying, “I’m not going to be here past the first of the year.” Hoda clarified she will not be leaving the NBC family, she just won’t be waking up at 3am anymore. Hoda says she’s looking forward to sleeping until 5:15! Craig Melvin has been with NBC since 2011. He’s served as co-host of the Today show’s third hour since 2018.

SPOILER ALERT! Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos had a decision to make: Would it be Chock Chapple, the 60-year-old insurance exec from Wichita, or Guy Gansert, the 66-year-old ER doctor from Reno. She went with Chock, who dropped down on one knee to propose with a 4-carat emerald-cut diamond set between two tapered diamond baguettes, which are lined with 56 round brilliant-cut diamonds, courtesy of Neil Lane Couture. Chock didn’t get the first impression rose, but he did get the first one-on-one date, which was a trip to Disneyland. And that’s where they felt that spark that eventually burst into a full flame. So now what? Joan and Chock are moving to NYC! Joan told Us Weekly, “The first year, obviously, we have to kind of figure out life. Chock has a business in Kansas. I have kids and grandkids and Maryland. I’m not leaving Maryland, but he does have obligations in Kansas.” But as it turns out, Joan and Chock both share the dream of living in NYC, and Chock surprised her by saying they should go find a place there.

Full House star Dave Coulier has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of blood cancer that starts in the lymphatic system. Dave said he’d been suffering from an upper respiratory infection, which caused significant swelling in his lymph nodes. In the past, he said he noticed the lymph nodes in his neck or armpits would swell when he got sick, but this time, he was surprised to discover a golf-ball sized lump in his groin. Doctors diagnosed him with cancer, which, thankfully, had not spread to his bone marrow, boosting his chances of recovery to 90 percent.

What’s been the holdup with Season 3 of Euphoria. Zendaya told Vanity Fair that it’s not her! This February will be 3 years since the Season 2 finale, but production for Season 3 is finally schedule to begin this January. While Zendaya did film 2 movies in 2022 — Dune: Part II and Challengers — she said she was just waiting to hear when Season 3 would pick up filming again. Now that it’s almost time, she’s ready! Zendaya said, “I haven’t read anything yet, but I’m excited to see what everyone has been working on, and what the future looks like for Euphoria…My most important thing is to do justice by the people who love and care about Rue, and make sure that she’s looked after as a character. I think that’s my number one duty.” Along with Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer are all committed to return for Season 3.

A source told DailyMail.com that John Krasinski was NOT the first choice for People’s Sexiest Man Alive. In fact, he wasn’t event their SECOND choice!! Their source said, “Every year the magazine has dreams of who to get, but the person they want doesn’t always agree to be a part of it. Do you really think that they wanted Patrick Dempsey last year?” Ouch! The source continued, “And for this year, just like Patrick, John is a great guy but in no way was he their number-one choice. This year, the magazine asked Glen Powell and Pedro Pascal on a handful of occasions to be the pick, but they continued to say no. They both had their reasons to turn it down, but People Magazine begged both of them to accept and they were continuously shot down.” The source said neither Glen nor Pedro felt like being named the sexiest man alive was important at this point in their careers, but Krasinski? He was A-OK with it.
